  1. @OCtoolguy and SSV nation. I have been following this throughout the whole time and it has taken me this long to post. I have lost way too many friends and family in the last two years. Each one hurts just as much as the last. If anyone weds to talk through this, I am here for you. Ray, I know it is difficult times, but you know who really cares about you and this goes to all that feel the pain.
  2. That is why I wear a respirator when sanding.
  3. I guess I am slacking. I let the dust go everywhere. while it does get over all the tools, a benefit is that the shop floor is getting a nice soft flooring which makes it easier on my feet, so I got that going for me.
  4. Here is a Bald Eagle I have made. Turns out I have made this about six times and haven’t had an opportunity to cut out a Macaw like I want. Enjoy.
  5. Good looking saw. Let us know how it cuts!
  6. I wish I would think of something like that!
  7. @dgman thanks for the translation.
  8. Pegas clamps are the best out there and they are made for many different saws. In reality, all saws chuck screws wear. This is due to the motion of the saw while in action. It holds the blade tight while in operation. Over time, the heads wear and allow the blade to either lose tension or just come off completely. One thing you can do to prolong them is to sand the ends some so that the whole pin holds the blade. If gone unserviced, would make cutting anything a challenge. Every new scroller usually learns this lesson.
  9. I cut both positive and negative. The only thing that determines it is how the pattern presents itself. Hope this helps.
  10. I live in South Carolina and during the 100 degree summer, I have an AC pointed at the scroll saw. I still sweat out three pounds of water, but at least it is bearable. The winter does get chilly, but usually I can do things in the afternoon. I have scrolled when it was 40 degrees. Didn’t last long though.
  11. Here is a Bald Eagle cut in plywood that measures 44 inches tall. Cut with a Jig Saw and stained with Ebony stain.
  12. @lawson56Thank you very much!
  13. Thank you and one day, I would love to work with Jabota (Brasilian Charry wood in Brazil).
  14. Alright SSV Nation, I haven’t posted much of my work lately, but thought this would be appropriate. It is a 20 MM aircraft gun barrel mounted on Bloodwood, which is the most dense wood I have ever played with). The mounts are Bubinga with inlays to the coins, patch and the nameplate. The nameplate is scrolled in Canarywood. I was so surprised to see a red streak within the Canarywood. Never seen it before. It is finished with Teak Oil. Feel free to ask questions. I totally enjoyed this.
  15. I can say in South Carolina, Lowe’s used to have 3/4 oak by 12 for 57 and now it is 75 for the same piece.
  16. what isnt on the floor and makes it way into a bag, I give it to a guy at work. He uses it to soak oil up and then burns it. so it leaves zero waste.
  17. I have only been a member for a year. I admit I have dropped off the radar for a while. mostly due to being busy at work. I should get more free time now so I can be online more. I have however; been lurking in the shadows.
  18. I might be thinking outside the box, but I have some that are drying right now that I intend to make clocks and tables. The clocks will be routed in the center and pour self leveling epoxy resin for a finish. That is what I plan to do.
  19. Brenda, I have had that happen to me recently. I scrolled some words to go behind a desk and when the pilots look at it, they say "cool decal". I then have to explain that it isnt a decal, but cut out of wood. Then I watch thier heads explode. its worth it.
  20. Alright, now the cat you might be expecting, but this is a rule within the house as it is so true. Taken before applying Teak Oil and cut in Red Cedar.
  21. Thank you very much for all the kind replies. To be honest, he is high up the food change and hand selected me to do it. Slightly nervous, but the feedback I have received from the two within the unit is positive. These remarks really mean I nailed it. Thank you all.
  22. I was asked to make a going away gift for one of the bosses. I was given a demilitarized 20 mm barrel and told have at it. The base is Padauk with a Yellow Heart inlay. The scrolling in the yellowheart are the details. A 20 mm projectile is mounted at the end and inlayed coins of the units that worked for him. Can’t tell, but there is a laser etching of an F-16 on the left corner. It is piled with Teak oil and no sealing. The receiver schooled me in that Germans done seal their woods. Under the barrel are two risers made of Oak. Hope you guys and gals enjoy it.
  23. It is for the Buffalo Bills. I have wanted to do this for a while, but finally found time. Growing up in Western New York, being a Bills fan is required. They had a good season this year and looking forward to next year. Go Bills!

    Hi ya

welcome to SSV Nation. I started about 15 months ago and my abilities have grown due to the knowledge on this site. Information comes readily. I used to live by beat to fit, paint to match...so if I can do it, I am sure anyone can!
