  1. it looks beautiful!!! great job!!!
  2. thanks lol still havent figured out the best way to try to do the expoxy reisn but i have the other compound cut s done and the layered snake just has to be glued together and then the polyurthine on it.....will put up pictures when there done.... have to get off the computer now. will try to look at you guys stuff soon
  3. thank you lawson56. I love doing the compound cuts and praticing carving on them. carving has always been my first love but until the compound cuts i didnt have any patterns and since i cant draw...lol a do the layered animals a lot to for the same reason....iv found sawdust and glue makes great hair and fur or snow and such depending on what im doing....gives it a more 3 demisaule look.... i hope to get better as i pratice. and being able to use the scraps for pins and things give me more finished items and less trsh lol
  4. The pictures didnt come out to well but these are the compound santas'mrssantas and a witch i still have to paintthe belt buckles on the santas . I used sawdust and glue to make the hair and fur on the santas. A friend gave me some expoy resin to try working with. Now i have used it years ago on flat projects could some one tell me the best way to put it on these compound cuts? when there all finished i'll repost new pictures. only 2 of the santas are the compound cut, the rest i made out of the scraps from the compound cut, these will be used as magnets and perhaps as over lays on other projects. some might be put on crafts made from other meduems.... or turned into pins. I still have some other compound cut pieces to paint and im working on painting a fret work peice to. and i still have the layered snake to paint and put together.
  5. humm never had any trouble with things hanging stright but i can see how it couldbe a proublem....i forgot to mention that with bigger pieces i use two.....i also forgot to mention i take tin snips and snip a small part for the nail or what ever to rest in. Yes it does take a little more time but i have so many of them that time is not really a factor for me. lol and i do like to recycle when ever i can. that being said i do also use the saw tooth hangers from time to time depending on what im making to hang.
  6. Thank you everyone and yes he did love it. I hope to have more pictures to put up soon. I do a lot of cutting in the summer and put the things in a box to be finished in the winter. My wood shop dosnt have heat and doing it this way helps keep the electric bill down . Thats why i havent put a lot of new things up. I hope thats ok, if not just let me know.
  7. I dont know if any one will be interested or not but figured i put this up just in case. Im real big into recycling. Instead of buying the wood hangers all the time i use the pop tabs from soda bottles... all you have to do is take off the thin part that covers the hole and then you can nail them to back of plaques and pictures , just mmake sure you leave a little bit over the edge or you can bend the back a little so a nail or what ever can be slid into the hole ..... just an idea if anyones interested
  8. Thank you. Its not like its suppose to be.....i have to get back into cutting letters again...but i fixed it up best i could.
  9. well here it is all finished, my sons dad by day gamer by night from steve good. I had messed up the lettering when i was cutting it out, but most people who know me i seldom throw anything away that i might be able to use. i turned it into a picture frame. It holds a small school picture. since i dont have a small school picture of my grandson so i inserted one of my sons small school pictures she he knows where to put the picture. we printed out the dad by day gamer by night on the computer and then cut 2 peices of bb to size and glued the words on to it and then glued the words on the wood to the backer board. i left it unfinished as i dont know how well the print would hold up if i put polyurithine on it. now the back peace for hanging the pictures is made from the plastic that comes with a new pair of earrings. we cut the top off and lued it to the back leacing the lip in tack. then i slide some clear fishing line into the grove and put a dab of glue on the earring holder thing so the fishing line wont slide out. i used peaces of dowl for the frame....now i wont be on too much anymore because the bowtox shots are not working as well as it used to so im constently in mild migrine pain. i had hoped wearing an eyepatch over my right eye so it wouldnt get the light from the monter screen in hopes that it would prevent the migrine from gettig worse and its helping some but not enough i will try to look at all your projects one at a time inbetween the projects i am hoping to be able to do at least until the pain gets to bad again for me to craft....im hoping it wont get that bad again and if i work slowly and take lots of breaks ever 5 -10 minutes or so the pain wont get to bad at least not for awhile....oh well at least you wont have to read my rattleing on and on in far to long posts as often now... i hope every one has a VERY MARRY CHRISTMAS!!
  10. ok heres the thing, i have my layered rattle snake all cut sanded and ready to paint....but im not sure about the colors.....so i decided to look at some pictures of rattles snakes. i never knew there were so many different kinds and colors of rattle snakes!! proubly because i dont get close enough to ANY kind of snake to see what color they are. i tried looking up the colors they recomend in the pattern to paint the snake but there the colors dune autun and bambi have several different colors for each so how the heak am i supoose to know which of the colors listed for each one im suppose to use? perhaps someone here could give me some ideas ....like the body is......the dimanods are......and the belly is such iand such a color..i could really use some help with this
  11. LOL Keven thanks but compaired to the things you guys make my stuff is pretty simple. lol im thinking after christmas and i get all the presents paid for i'll try to get some more expensive bb and see if i can manage to do a more complex fret work peice.

  16. i love it!!
  17. Great work!! And yes like everyone else says letters can be a bugger to cut out! iv been scrolling since the late 70s early80s and letters drive me nuts!! lol as a matter of fact the last project i made i messed up because one of the letters messed up so bad i couldnt fix it!!! mumble grumble....BUT i didnt toss out the rest of the project..i turned it into something else.... Dont know if anyone else does this but when i mess up part of a project i put it in a sepreat box and every now and then i go through it and find i can make something else out of the good or not messed up parts.... the project im doing now as a present for my son had to be changed and turned into a different project because i messed up the words. hope to finish it tomarrow .... just remember dont sweat the small stuff!! this is suppose to be fun lol i think all crafters regardless of the craft they do secerty love to touture themselfs!! lol at least thats what my family thinks when im mumbleing and grumbling and ranting and raving about a project thats giving me greaf lol
  18. oh good!! nobody else can see it either lol what a relief!! i hope you put the picture up soon!!

  20. beautiful! they will love it and treasure it for ever
  21. im frounturet....there is a very LARGE stack of sticks, twigs, and branches in our back yard....iv spent a day in a half at the miter type saw sliceing disks from them and i still have 2 boxes of twigs branches and sticks to cut. tomarrow im going to put some linseed oil on the ones that are cut and let them sit out until there dry and then i'll use them to make snowmen and little table and chairs for my knob houses....might use some for stepts and stares too. the bigger ones i'll make ornaments from not sure what all i'll make out of them actualy lol but spike has strick orders NOT to GET RID of my STICKS!!! lol
  22. a totaly fantastic peice!!! ialso see no flaws....more often then not we are the only ones who see the flaws in our projects...as Mr Monk would say it a blessing and a curse.lol seeing our flaws makes us try harder to make our projects great works of art and a blessing because since no one else can see the flaws we are able to sell our work and give them as presents to make other people happy
  23. that is so pretty!!! nice job!!!
