  15. they both look great to me to!!! i have never been able to make good frames so i sort of cheat...i take the picture and trace around it then transfer it to some wood then i cut the middle out and wa la!! lol a frame is born lol not as good as the ones made the right way but better then no frame at all lol thats what i did with the botched wizzard project....cut out the middle that didnt look right and kept the outer frame. lol now all i have to do is find something that size to make to fit into the 4 frames lol
  16. I use both spiral and flat blades...if your having trouble staying on or near your line with the spiral blades you might want to try going slower.... I use the spirals a lot when doing fret work that has the lines very close together...but I adjust my saw speed to a speed that lets me keep control of the cutting best. I like the spirals best for some cuts as I don't have to turn the wood as much...if that makes any sense....mostly with spirals it just takes practice and remembering that the blade will cut on all sides...so you have to be more awair of how your cutting....with flat blades if you waver to left or right a bit it wont cut the wood where as with the spirals is does...iv been using both for years and am comfortable with both but it took awhile to get comfortable with the spirals.. sometimes its a bit of trail and error with your piece if your having trouble making a cut with one type of blade try switching to the other kind and see which one you find you can control best...

  21. great cut!! it looks awesome!!! stupid question but what is MC? the inticls of the pattern maker
  22. simply beautiful and my vote is for the green glass... where did you get the pattern? I would love to cut that pattern for myself. you see I had a small red eared slider turtle for almost a year but had to give him away because it was just getting to hard for us to change his water every 2 weeks and knowing that he would get much bigger we felt it was best for him to live with a younger family. a friend of mine knew a teacher at the eleamentay school here in town...who was looking for a pet for her class room and she has other turtles at home so I let him go live with the teacher...during the school year he lives at the school and during the summer she takes him home. I miss him SO MUCH!!! I named him Mr spock…. id love to scroll this with his name under it...it would nt be having him back but in a way I think it will help me miss him just a little less. I had some orange glass like the green glass you have at the top...I used it to do my first inlay piece....a dragon of course...it dosnt look great but I had no idea what I was doing and hadn't at that time found a book explaining how to do inlay work. i'll take a picture of it soon and put it up....but be forwarned its not nearly as good as yours! could you tell me where to get the pattern? I have an idea for a project I want to make....a small aquiram with a compound cut red eared turtle in it and a few fish... I used to have fish when I was younger …… I have an old aquram but I think its to big, not so much for me but to big for spike....although im trying to find an out of the way place I can put it so I can make my aquream for my vertical mr spock and some fish.... im to the point now where im thinging i'll have to get a small bowl or aquram from Walmart or meyjers before I can make my vertral aquram… I have a compound cut of a turtle but its a land turtle and im trying to figure out how to turn it into a water turtle....and rats!! now this post is really long!! iv been trying not to come here to much and leaving really long posts and to keep my posts just about scrolling.... sorry. I will do better!!! just wanted you to know why I want to cut out that pattern if I can get it. He looks just like my mr spock
  23. They did a GREAT job!!! I jus bought a new scroll saw for my grandson for christmass. I have it set up here for him to use when hes here so hes learning to scroll on his own scroll saw. I wish he could come down more often so he could scroll more often, he wants to make Christmas presents this year. if he dosnt have any trouble using the new saw and changing the blades I want to start him on some fret work. I hope his parents will bring home down to visit a little bit more between now and Christmas... by the way love your cut to!! did you make the pattern yourself? and is the little boy with batman your grandson? my grandson is 9. we really do have to keep teaching our children crafts least they become lost .
  24. love it! is beautiful!!! HD is that home depot? I have a ton of knob and fary houses I want to make and some of them need small rocks....having grown up in the country by that I mean mostly dirt roads and only one or two houses besides us I never thought id have to BUY stones or rocks lol they were all over the yard, hedge rows and we spent a lot of time helping the farmers clear rocks from the fields. lol I USED to have tough skin on the bottom of my feet as of course most of the time we didn't wear shoes. lol and I now I find I have to wait until we get to a store where I can buy some stones and rocks before I can make my knob and fary houses. we have an acer of land here in town that our house is on and guess what? not a stone or rock anywhere to be seen....hum must be a city thing....lol
  25. totaly awsome and fantastic!!! you must have termenusdence paticence!!! that is just fantastic!!!
