  1. Super shop! Great to see it all like that.
  2. Neat Puzzle! Looks great.
  3. I imagine you might be thinking of Daisy Mae's. They closed down a few years ago. It was a fun western themed place and they had fabulous steaks very near the main gate of the fort. The Tombstone Vigilantes skit crews liked to show up there.
  4. I live in Sierra Vista (an Army town) which is pretty close to the famous old west town of Tombstone. The closest metropolitan city would be Tucson which is about an hours drive away. Sharon and I bought a house here 31 years ago while I was serving in the Army. My house is pinned on the member map if you look there.
  5. Whenever I can, I use 1 mm since it accommodates all the way up to FD-UR #5. My drill press holds a 1mm bit just fine (which surprised me). I was worried that I would be breaking the bits since they are so small so I bought a pack of 50 (Amazon $8 for 50 bits). My drill press has been great though and I have not been breaking bits like I thought. I just ordered some #68 bits because I can see that they will be handy.
  6. I love your cabinet idea. gives me some ideas. Thanks!
  7. Good topic! great info here.
  8. Congrats on the tools! Reminds me of when I got my garage built ten or eleven years ago. Lots of tool purchases... drill press, table saw & miter saw were first day items for me. Lived all my life with no place to put tools so when I finally got a place I wasted no time getting some serious tools. Here in southern AZ I want but cant justify a boat Lol..
  9. Wow! great looking at every stage.
  10. Very nice!
  11. Super project! Love it.
  12. Wow, Love the cars..
  13. Cant wait to see some of your stuff.
  14. Awesome work! Really a nice piece.
  15. How cool!
  16. I too grew up in the 50s -60s and I can remember laughing at them so hard tears would come. Now I have totally lost the ability to find their stuff funny enough to laugh at. Your Mime though... THAT made me laugh! Thanks for lighting up my morning
  17. Thanks Jim, Its strange that I never heard the term before. It looks like it would be a great solution for a lot of things.. One thing that comes to mind is perhaps the bottom of a trophy or desk plaque.
  18. Great advise! That helps as I envision working this through in my head.
  19. Thanks for the info! That is awesome!
  20. This simple to cut plywood jig totally secures the goose neck of a magnetic based LED light (available on Amazon for $10) and prevents it from shifting in any way. It would work on a number of different saws.
  21. I like this Frank. The frame turned out really nice especially for these birds. Very unique look. I might play around with your staining idea on Poplar. Its always interesting doing that sort of stuff. BTW, I was in Home Depot the other day and my eye caught some super cheap 1/2" Cedar fence pickets ($2.52 for a 6ft board) and the boards were all straight as an arrow. Well I can afford $2.52 so I went to playing with one.. I tried oiling it but that was a waste but then I stained it with Minwax Dark Walnut and the transformation was amazing (IMHO). The problem is that it has an odd smell since it is "Incense Cedar" which is a smelly tree but I made some signs with it that look great.
  22. I have been commissioned to build a felt backed jigsaw puzzle table similar to this one on Amazon. I just purchased a couple yards of green felt and it occurred to me that I have no idea what the best way is to glue it down to the board. Does anyone have any input on this?
  23. Good that your light is working again!. One thing that can happen is that dust finds its way into the contact points. Another less common thing is a crack in the circuit traces of the circuit board. Poorly soldered parts are also common especially with highly discounted Chinese merchandise. Speaking of highly discounted Chinese merchandise, I just bought an LED goose neck light called a "sewing machine light" for $10 on Amazon. It works excellent (very bright and perfect for a scroll saw) but I discovered that when the base gets in close proximity of a strong magnet (like my 1" cube rare earth magnet), the LED light fails.. I am thinking that the on/off switch must have a metal part that bends away from its contacts when it gets close to a strong rare earth magnet. I suppose the inductance of the inductor in the switching power supply might go wonky in the presence of a super strong magnetic field. Who knows? Lol!
