  1. Your Granddaughter will love it!
  2. I decided to try this frame from Steve Good's catalog. I used 1/4" BB and FD-UR #1 blades and my Hegner saw. The pattern also calls for another layer (an oval vignette for a 5X7 photograph) but I am undecided about that at the moment. The cutting went fairly well and it kept me nicely occupied for a few days.
  3. Good to know. I will have to send an order to Denny next time I need Pegas blades. FWIW, Lesley's has done fine every time I ordered over the last few months.. I went several years without placing any orders and then last year during Christmas season I decided to get a good stock of FD blades and they all arrived just fine. Their shipping does seem unusually slow though, I agree. The other night I wrote them an email and I got a reply back within the same hour. What I really like is that on their invoice they say "In Business to serve Christ". I checked the "about us" narrative on their web site and they are still a "mom-and-pop" family business mostly run by mom so I am not sure about what might have happened in the past.
  4. Welcome Tim!
  5. Nice find! I use Lesleys for all my blade purchases. Just got an order from them yesterday.
  6. So you sawed that in 1/2 oak? wow! That really looks perfect! What blades did you use?

  17. Interesting about the aging of the glue on the wood regarding residue. Thanks for sharing. I know that Alex Fox layered patterns are very intricate (and beautiful). I am sure that they will be a big hit. Residue has not been in my cross hairs as a problem yet but I haven't done anything like an Alex Fox pattern either Lol! Normally when I spray a finished project with denatured alcohol, the pattern instantly peels off as a single piece with near zero resistance no matter how intricate it is BUT, I have found that not all glues dissolve like that. There is only one type of spray glue that I am aware of that reliably dissolves with alcohol. I have seen all sorts of methods people use to apply and remove patterns when I watch YouTube videos. I started out armed with Steve Good's old videos that used a hot air gun to release the glue from the wood. Then he suggested using contact paper. Now he uses Blue tape. A bit of the back story of how I came about to use alcohol to release my spray glue; One day last year I discovered in an R/C forum that alcohol releases the adhesion of hot glue so I decided to test that with my spray adhesive and found it was hit and miss. When it worked it was amazing but when it didn't I would have to resort to mineral spirits to get the pattern off (which I hate). What was even more amazing was that the exact same brand of glue worked if it was new stock and failed it it was vintage stuff I had laying around from years ago.. I am guessing perhaps the spray glue company changed up their formula at some point. So I know of one glue that has been well behaved in this regard and as long as it continues to work I will probably stick with it (Pun intended Lol) Not sure what the down side is yet. Sorry for the length of this reply.

Nice work! Looks Great! Here is a recent story that came to mind after reading your post. I did an 8X10 winter scene fret piece (from Steve Good) during Christmas using BB and as I got into the last third, the saw started getting hard to control. Up till then, I had never had a board bow while cutting before. (yeah, I am still trying a lot of stuff for the first time Lol). I ended up using the "foot" to help hold down the bow. The piece turned out fine but I ruined it by staining the backer with the wrong shade of stain.
  22. Welcome, and the browser translated your Italian to English just fine so I think that is fine. Hope to see some of your projects and thoughts here in the forums. Ken
