  1. My experience with Inkscape is changing the fill and stroke. My ability to create patterns has been the ability to create junk. I did a pattern in Gimp but it took me about 10 hours of work trying to color the various pixels. Haven't cut the pattern yet because I'm just not happy with how it turned out. It has about 1500 cuts and I'd like to eliminate about a third of those. I'm planning on trying to gain more experience in both Inkscape and Gimp through online training but time just hasn't permitted as yet. Good luck with your learning. If you find the switch that clicks everything in understanding, let us know.

  3. Hope you recover quickly, Ralph. Prayers are with you.
  4. How long did it take before you eyes became uncrossed? Great work, Dick.
  5. Another beautiful creation, Denny!
  6. Very smooth cuts, Denny. Great job. I have noticed you hadn't posted any work for a while. Was hoping all was well. Glad to see you got some time on the saw.
  7. Stunning!!! I've always wanted to do a piece like that. Your modifications are spot on.
  8. Great patterns, Alex, and your cutting is superb!
  9. What a creative project, Bobby. Do the areas that glow do so because of the paint you used or is it the light showing through from the inside?
  10. My fumbly fingers would have trouble holding that, much less cutting it. You did a great job. Apparently, you use a magnifying glass. I have trouble printing 11X17 from Inkscape also. Usually what I do is make any modifications I want to make in Inkscape (fill and stroke colors) and then save the pattern. I then open a "Draw" program, format the page size dimensions to 11X17, and then insert the picture from file. So far that has worked every time for me. I say "Draw" program because there are several out there. I use Open Office because it's free and does almost everything Microsoft Office will do. Hope this works for you.
  11. Very nice work, Tbow. A few of those look like pretty thick stock.
  12. Excellent piece. I like cutting Jim Blume's patterns also. Some can be complicated but they are sure worth it in the end.
  13. Fantastic work as usual, Barb!
  14. This is a Jim Blume pattern I finished this weekend. Both are finished the same except one is Birch and the other is Oak finished with Minwax Natural stain. Both are 1/4 inch with 1/4 Pine ply backer painted black. The frames are pre-fab Oak framing material stained with Minwax Colonial Pine. I finished with 4-coats of clear spray lacquer with light sanding with 600 grit between coats. I used Pegas #2/0 and 0/0 spiral blades. The size without the frame and including the backer is 11 1/2 X 14. A lot of fun to cut and surprisingly, it went pretty fast. Hope you enjoy.
  15. Great cuttings, John. And your frames are outstanding. Love the fit and finish!
  16. It looks to me like you turned a beautiful piece of wood into art. Great job, Berry.
  17. Great job. Letters can always be tricky.
  18. Excellent job, Charlie!
  19. Getting ready for Christmas early. I've been saving my scrap for ornaments. Right now I have enough scrap to supply my county!

  21. Very nice, Barb!
  22. I'm your huckleberry! He played the best role in that movie. Outstanding job making the pattern and cut.
  23. Great job on that one, Charlie. Both pattern and cutting. Beautiful woman.
  24. Outstanding piece, Richard. I'm sure your nephew will love it.
  25. I agree! If that is what the customer wants, that what the customer gets.
