  1. Outstanding! Very powerful. There is a lot of meaning in that photo and the cutting.
  2. Nice work, Roly. Wonder if I made one it would keep the rabbits from eating all my veggies?
  3. Another delicate piece, "Father." Great job!
  4. For a first job, picture to cut project, I think you did outstanding. I've made my first pattern using Gimp but haven't attempted to cut it yet. It's quite "busy" in the pattern with a LOT of little cuts. Thinking of going back and getting rid of some of the areas that aren't really a part of the detail. There is no doubt if someone seen the project that knew your dog, they would know the cutting was of him. By the way, love the wood you selected for the project.
  5. Both are nicely cut and the lettering on the "Semper Fidelis" is much neater "cleaner" than the one done with the wood burner. (Understand that isn't a snub on you. It's obvious a computer and laser will be much more precise.) I have nothing against using a laser... and maybe one day I'll have one for myself. Concerning the veining, when I first started scrolling I realized cutting veins with the blade I was using to cut the project often left the veins quite small and sometimes hard to see. I started cutting veins with a spiral blade, usually a #2/0, and they were large enough to see the detail the veining projected.
  6. Very clean cutting, Bob. Great job! I've got a couple of boxes of hardwood floor panels and haven't even thought of trying them. After seeing your piece, I'll have to give it a try.

Very nice "delicate" work, George! Beautiful piece and the frame sets it off perfectly.
  8. I kneel before you Master!!! That is one awesome piece. The way the pattern is were you able to stack cut any of this?
  9. Wonderful work, Charlie. The cutting and the pattern.
  10. Thanks Jim. When I'm cutting something with smooth, straight-line cuts, I typically use Pegas MGT which is good for removing fuzzies. On this piece, and most of those I cut using large, difficult patterns, I use Pegas spirals. My saw only has a 16-inch throat so you can imagine how difficult it would be spinning a piece such as this one on that small saw. Especially with the number of cuts it has. Occasionally I will put on a straight blade to make a cut I feel is critical to have a sharp angle. By the way, I started the Western Stagecoach but had to put it aside for some commission work.
  11. You definitely like those delicate projects. Great job.
  12. Well... guess you got that out of your system!!!
  13. Excellent work, Peter and that is beautiful wood you selected.
  14. Great piece, Chuck!
  15. Excellent work, Bernd. At first, I thought that to be an easy cut but after looking at it closer, it's obvious it would be rather difficult with the small bridges and keeping all the parallel cuts together.
  16. That is a fantastic pattern and some fantastic cutting. I agree with Frank... your wife choose wisely although I see absolutely nothing wrong with the walnut over maple.
  17. Nice work. Painting on Betty Bo is outstanding!
  18. I've been asked to set up a booth at a community yard sale in my area this weekend and had to crank out a few projects to display/attempt to sell. This is my first cross. It is a Steve Good pattern cut using 1/4 maple ply for the front and hummingbirds. The back is 1/4 underlayment. The cross is stained with Minwax Natural, and the edges of the backer and hummingbirds are stained with Minwax Red Oak. The paint is artist acrylic paint. The piece was sprayed with four coats clear with light sanding with 320 grit between coats. My wife has already claimed this one if it doesn't sell.
  19. Thanks Dave. I was fortunate that I have a friend who bought out a picture framing company. He had lots and lots of framing boards and decided he wanted them out of his shop. I was happy to take them off his hands. I'm also learning every time I cut a new frame. I built a framing jig for my table saw that helps a lot. My miter saw isn't true enough to give me good 90 degree angles. I have created a few frames from regular boards and routed my notch.
  20. I sand frequently also but with a palm sander. Haven't gotten a mop yet. I also wax my table top.
  21. Excellent job, Andrew. I actually like the way the MDF vertical grain contrasts with the revolver. And the grips are outstanding.
  22. Sorry the weather didn't cooperate, Barb. I'm doing my first "show" this weekend... actually a community yard sale. I don't really have a lot to display. Maybe 20 pieces. As far as the weather here, it will probably be in the upper 90s (Fahrenheit) and high humidity. My main objective is to show some of my pieces and hopefully get a couple commissions.
  23. Both turned out beautifully, Tbow. I'm sure the Waylon project had some very delicate pieces.
  24. Thanks, Frank. I didn't know that about using a "backer board" for the front when burning. I'll give that a try next time. Started a pretty big piece that I'm sure will require a lot of cleaning once complete.
  25. The color is actually the result of an accident... burning fuzzies with a torch and the wind blew the flame through the grill area of the truck. Tried light sanding but the char was too deep. Decided to try the darker stain. I'm happy with the results.
