  1. You did a nice cut and gave a nice gift.
  2. Well!!!! That scroll saw is being watched over. An Angel is always nice to have around. I like them. Larry
  3. The Janka Hardness Scale is a measurement of the force necessary to embed a .444-inch (11.28 mm) steel ball to half its diameter in wood. It is the industry standard for gauging the ability of various species to tolerate denting and normal wear, as well as being a good indication of the effort required to work (nail, saw, carve, etc.) the particular wood. The Red Oak, which has a Janka rating of 1290, is the industry benchmark for comparing the relative hardness of different wood species. Since the hardness of the wood varies with the direction of the grain, both side testing and end testing is performed on wood. 4. You did an excellent job. Looks good.
  5. Well now DW, That's a prized piece of work. Beautiful!! Larry
  6. Very nice cutting on a good choice of woods. That will hang in an honored place. Larry
  7. Barry, Sully has your solution. A roller bearing router bit solves your problem (I think) . Just use some scrap material to adjust the edge you want. AND...A router bit will put an edge on anything including a finger!! Play Safe!! Larry
  8. I bought a Delta 20 40-695 when they first came out (I think) in the spring of 2012. I enjoy my scroll saw very much as I think you will also. Give it a work-out, it can take it! Larry
  9. Give Bob a "GREENIE" from me!! Merry Christmas to you both and to all your FAMILY.
  10. I would check the "Like This" option but how could anybody like what happened to you
  11. Harold, Yes Avatar wags his tail. Your deer pattern is nice. The further away you are from the deer, the better it looks. Laugh out loud. I don't mean if you go to another room. Now, what's the dogs name? Mine was Sweetie and she wagged her tail also. She was a super girl. WELCOME !!!! Did you leave out fishing and hiking? and if you ain't 48, you told two lies (:>)))))
  12. Thanks Ron, of course like most of us, not all the tools I would like. I'm blessed with the basics. Drill, planer, router, scroll saw and orbit sander. This room would be big enough if the cedar chest, freezer, garden tools had somewhere else to go. Also, this is storage for the wood I use the most...hah, the wood that has to stay.
  13. The previous welcome beat me to what I wanted to say!!!! Dang... Gabry, you better publish some pictures of your work...AND SOON Well if you take a while that's ok. Welcome and enjoy your stay with us. May it be a long one. Also, please show us some of your mountain patterns. OH, and post a picture of a cathedral that you especially like. A tour of Milan...ah, I so would enjoy that. Someday, I still have dreams... Larry
  14. OK, young man, tell me your nook. I'm not sure what mine is. I'm also a practitioner working to become a specialist. I enjoy scrolling and am becoming an expert at hiding my mistakes. Sometimes I like the results better than the original, the out-of-place antler on the deer. I break rules like using a blade until it will not cut, keeping dull ones just-in-case. And yes, this is a nice place to commune, learn, and we all can teach something. There are friends here for everyone. You have a good saw to work with... Larry
  15. This is part of my messy shop
  16. Here is part of my messy shop I'll delete this when I figure out how
  17. Ron, thank you, had a cup this morning Roly, I keep the teapot on a wood stove, water is always hot. Got Royal Majesty Earl Grey tea in the cupboard and an American English Breakfast Blend also.
  18. Very very nice and creative.
  19. Sounds like you picked yourself a winning ticket.
  20. I enjoyed this craft show at a high school. Mostly because of the crocheting young ladies next to me. I gave one of them a lucet cord maker. Desirae looked up how to use the lucet cord maker and before I left she had made me a lucet cord bracelet. I have to make a couple more lucet cord makers for the other girls. I also met another scroll sawyer who was not aware of the great SCROLLSAWVILLAGE.COM, so we may have a new member soon from Endicott, New York. One Marine, one Air Force plaque and a zebra scroll were the big money items. The rest were $2 to $4 sales. Anyway, I made friends, won a cutting board prize and Rachel gave me two crocheted hot pads. I am supposed to get two orders soon also from this craft show. Well, thanks for listening. Larry
  21. Welcome, Kevin. At first guess, I thought your name would be Jack. Are you a master of any trade? (:>))))) Looks like you already got your feet wet. There are experts here!! On many topics. Larry
  22. Yes... Just do a search on " treadle powered scroll saw "
  23. That makes me smile. Looks good Ron, nice job. Larry
  24. I'm lost for words. Amazing is all I can come up with. Beautiful, and the Lord likes it too!
  25. At a craft show two weeks ago, had a guy ask me if I wanted to buy wood. His basement is full of 'good' scrap Oak, Maple & Cherry pieces from his cabinet making. Variety of sizes. In his garage, he has 5000 board feet of lumber stacked in the rafters he wants to sell. He just wants to get rid of it. He is located near Binghamton, New York USA. I'll give you his phone number if you are interested talking to him. Of course I'd ask him if it was OK first. I bought some luaun 1/8" Oak and Cherry from him and may go get somemore. I don't n-e-e-d wood but I still will take some if it is a good deal. Rare or hard to get wood I'll take in a heart beat. The one type wood I want is the pieces that still have the bark on both the top and bottom
