  1. First, Sparkey you can't be paying $18 to $28 for a piece of wood that is 1/4 inch x 4 inch x 30 inch ... there has to be a mis-type somewhere. Geeze, I could stick that piece of wood down my pant leg and walk around about like I do now. OK, Ya'll, try this. (Maybe some of you have). * Yellow Pages Look under ( wood, carpentry, home building, sawmills, cabinet makers ) Contact them, these business always have scrap to give away or sell. * Craigs List... Do a " Wanted: Scrap Wood " along with whats for sale. * Picture Framers sometimes throw away scratched, chipped framing wood. * Old Barns. fallen down ... . Stop and ask. * Invest in a 'Business Card' that INDICATES you want scrap wood. Then tack these up at HOT SPOTS. Just my thoughts.
  2. Well, I can't be envious. Your shop is what I will aspire to.
  3. A new tool is always good, especially if the wife knows about it. Wow and it looks good.
  4. Thank you Clayton
  5. Worthy of display in your Church. That shows Master Scroller talent.
  6. Most likely it does not matter. If it is delicate when you finish it, then router first. ROUTER FIRST, THAT TAKES VERY LITTLE TIME.
  7. I've tried smooth cardboard and that seems to work well also. Make sure it is dry !
  8. I think it is just as cute as a "KITTY" I like!
  9. My preference is lacquer. Follow directions. Spray very light coats.
  10. Rusty and Sparkey (;>)... OK... Sparkey or Rusty A little buzzsaw going on the two scroll saws. If there were only these two saws and money was no object, I probably would go with the EX 16. Your posing the question lead me to do some research. Reviews, history, cost, where manufactured...etc, Excalibur rates high and Dewalt is also a good product. I have a Delta 20 40-695 that is supposedly just like the Dewalt 788. The only problem I have experienced is a struggle to keep the blade cutting true on thick cuts. I think this is a clamping issue. If any table and blade are at a 90 degree angle then it must be a front to back leaning problem caused by the blade not being true when clamped. It's a problem I haven't solved since different blades exagerate or lessen the problem. And at times there is "NO" problem. When I change blades, I assume it is true front to back. Example would be, on the top clamp, the blade is near the front of the clamp and on the bottom clamp, the blade is near the rear resulting in a tilted blade. I don't know how the EX 16 clamps work, maybe the EX16 clamps keep the blade true front to back. That's my two dollars worth, Larry
  11. Uhh, I'd still go with my Delta 20 40-695 (Made by Dewalt) because a $130 makes a difference to my wallet. And I am a " Bottom Feeder ".
  12. Your knives look 'sharp', in more than one way. Those are very good. Congratulations on some fine work. Larry
  13. My thoughts on "Pitch Fork Hair Pins" A pattern and warped wood. Sounds like a plan. But seriously here are some thoughts. Kiln drying lose some elasticity and becomes more brittle. Green wood is best if you can get it. Air dried is a second choice. Choose a straight grain wood since any fibers that “run out†along the edge are prone to splintering. Try Beech, White Oak, or Ash. Maple and Red Oak might be worth a try also. My choice is Ash for some reason. Lets go cut a branch off a tree, A Bamboo tree if we can find one. Now there is a flexable wood.
  14. A sure solution is to go to the FORUM and post your question. More will see it there and you will get "FOUR" ways to solve this.
  15. I'll make a guess. Right click on he picture and you may see a line that says, " Open With " Select one like Windows Photo Gallery or Paint. You should find a selection to "ROTATE RIGHT" or "Flip/ Rotate" Try that and post success or failure. Of course I gave you a Windows option and you have 'APPLE' Larry
  16. The more you scroll, the more you learn and you are addicted if you keep scrolling then you will keep learning. Welcome to the Village Larry
  17. Dick, that's quite nice and what is unique is you did it 'blind', as in no pattern. A pattern would be great. The type of wood to use would have to be a little flexible. Ya gotta like this one! Larry
  18. Hey, you gotta give lessons on painting. Really like the snowman and how you have the colors. Did you put on a sealer before you painted? Great start on an Album. Larry
  19. Ron, That is nice enough for a second and maybe a third look. I do like the frame and would like to know if that is an inlay surrounding the picture? Now the picture looks painted. There are cameras that take pictures that simulate depth and give a painted look. Very nice.
  20. Welcome aboard. "Walk' around and explore the Village, there is lots to read and enjoy. I see intarsia similar to fitting a puzzle together so you have a good start in my opinion
  21. When you are not in the shop scrolling, you are logged on to SSV checking on what is happening
  22. You done good. It is duel function, has visual appeal and hold phone
  23. Ron, you have them at the right place in 'Bragging Rights'. Very good, VERY GOOD !! The praying hands is nice and the birds with the green background, I do like! is that Oak you cut it on? The hands in prayer with the clock is like a reminder, " It's time to say a prayer" Larry
  24. My Wife, who has owned Quarter Horses for over 40 years says, " Beautiful job."
  25. When he is a General, he will display that on his desk.
