  1. What ever does the job and pretty don't matter. Larry
  2. Both are very nice. I miss my Sweetie so I lean toward the dedication to the 'dog'. They are sooooo much more, they are friends for life. Larry
  3. Very Nice. The ribbon is impressive, looks great. Larry
  4. James, Well you are starting with the "Top-of-the-Line", Scroll Saw Village and you are getting a pretty good saw too. (:>))))))))))) I want to see a picture of the sawdust you create. Not many scrollers show that. Oh, and one of your new saw, and one of you with a big smile cutting at your new saw. Yea, you'll be addicted after your first pattern is cut. Then the learning starts. My big wish for you is that finding wood to cut will be as easy as finding patterns. Larry
  5. Kirb, Welcome to you and your Clan. You got a lotta scrolling to do. You'll need that scroll saw when you retire. Someone will not want you under her feet all the time. Hey, we do lots of 'show and tell's' here. Larry
  6. Gary, I would yell 'Gary' if I could. Go to Sears. You gotta have a Sears store close by. They sell Delta's... I think they are a good saw. I say Sears because.... If you don't like it, you can return it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a Delta from them, did not like it, returned it and had them order me another one. I like the saw. Just a suggestion. Larry
  7. Gabry, exquisite !! Excellent job on the cutting, the sheet music in the background really sets it off. Larry
  8. Do a search with this... " Adapt pin blade scroll saw to non pin " Here is one I got : www.olsonsaw.net/ac49610.html - Similar to Scroll Saw Conversion Kit - Olson Saw This kit converts most 16in. scroll saws to accept both plain end and pin end blades! Easy to Install. Designed for use on these 16in. scroll saws: Sears ... ......
  9. Stephanie, Try contacting Mikes Workshop and Sloans Wood Shop. They sell blades and will know about the spiral end. I would also pose the question to them where you can get an adapter to convert to non-pin Look them up and I sugest you phone them. Both are friendly and may be able to give you a solution. I'll say a prayer you get a favorable answer and solution Larry
  10. You are a humorist by trade I see. These are beyond words to describe their beauty. Actually, you have already finished them both As for myself, I would need an assembly line and six workers for either one. This is what you love and I suspect you started with the one that You decide, I'm hesitant to guess. Larry
  11. Stephanie, Pleased to have you as a member. You can learn as much as you can obsorb here. Some of our more seasoned scrollers may have started on a treadle scroll saw. (:>)))))))) One member uses a 10" hand fret or coping saw and she does beautiful mountain scenes. I believe the answer to your woodwork/scroll questions is here, just ask. Welcome!!!!!!!!! Scrolling is habit forming Larry
  12. Roly, I am pleased that sign will be hung out for everyone to see. Absolutely a 'class' job. The wood is perfect with that font is perfect with that wood goes with that font goes with that wood. Got it? Larry
  13. Your wife has a nice collection of earrings. Good job Roly. Larry
  14. What's in your shop that is a little unusual that you use in your scroll sawing? Something that would not be found in a hardware store or a scroll saw supply shop? The items I have thought of at this time are: 1) GLAD Press n' Seal - a base for attaching patterns 2) Emery boards, used for filing finger nails, found in pharmacy stores. I use them for de-burring and sanding in small places. So what do you have in your shop?
  15. Gary, I'm glad you joined us. I think everyone here but you has at least one scroll saw. This is a good place to do some of your research on scroll saws. There is a good post you should check. In " Town Square " > General Scroll Sawing > about the third (3) page down, there is a post titled "Which Scroll Saw do you use"? It is worth checking out Another post is " Scroll Saw Mfg's " I wish you well selecting one. And if you like working with wood, you will love being a scroll sawyer. Larry
  16. Dan, I've never timed it but I suspect I stand and scroll for about 45 minutes at a time. Longer than that and I am prone to making mistakes. I usually then do prep work on another project, drill, sand, saw another board. Then I'll go back and scroll a little more. Larry
  17. Very nice. I like the way the colors are coordinated too. Hey and that is almost one cut a minute. Larry
  18. I like the handles, really nice job on the box. Larry
  19. What can I say, it's all been said and it's all true. You will need to plan on one for next year. You set a precedence with this one that will be hard to top. Larry
  20. The font is great and good job framing it. Gee another, I wish I had time ... 'cause I agree with DW. Larry
  21. Thank you all and especially Birchbark.
  22. Thank you all and again 'Thank you Steve Goode'

    Hi All

Hey Mel, Welcome! I guess you've toured a bit by now. There is much here to see and 'do'. Check the gallerys and especially the pattern library. Read the posts and get ideas and add your "Just my tuppence worth" (Hope I got thet right). And a warning, there is no semi-retiring from scrolling. Larry
  24. Yes they are nice... Very good
  25. Dennis, You did good. No mistake as to who they are. Of all the times I watched Bonanza, I don't think I saw Hop Sing on a horse.
