I cut a 100 ornaments every year for local cub scout group and another for grandkids classes back east 1\8 bb stacked 4 all wrapped in painters tape cut with fdur #3 or #5 good luck and thanks for helping keep kids busy with a craft Stu

Happens a lot less if using B&B ply wrapped with painters tape and use fdur#3 blade Stu

I got the saw filer at work to cut them but the blades are so small you could cut with a hacksaw, have honed them but yellow cedar burls really hard on blades one set just for that,with exchange I think $50 Canadian is $30 U.S. Stu

I have a delta 2 knife 12 1\2 in planer have to order replacement blades at $75 but after experimenting the Rigid 13in blades work after cutting 1\4in off each end pins line up perfect and that's at $50 for a set of 3 so $100 I have 3 sets of knifes guess I keep the $70 planer hope this helps someone save $$$ Stu

here in BC the beetle kill pine is chipped up so I think the only way to get it is if you live near a mill that cuts it

Used to use Elmer's all the time got tired of pattern lifting off tape all the time switched to 3m 77 cost is more but holds much better so less aggravation

On the dw788 I remove the cracked one lightly heat the next one with lighter and put back on -
Just wait the perfect pattern will jump out at you I have a few burls patiently waiting stu

You could probably find a used portable thickness planer on craigslist or kijiji I found a 12" delta with a new set of blades here in Vancouver BC for $70 Stu

haven't yet have to do both 788's one I have never used just tested it when I bought 4 years ago
