dgman Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 It's been mandated in California for a while now. You don't even notice it! Quote
DonR Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 This rule was implemented by FDA, and not by the President, in an attempt to combat epidemic obesity and is generally regarded as a reasonable approach to this problem which kills thousands of people. It is to be enforced only in chain establishments with 20 or more branches. Exactly how much do you imagine it will add to your Happy Meal? Probably not much!! http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm423082.htm Don R BTW I don't think this discussion has any place in a scroll sawing forum!!! dansnow Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Not to pick a nit, but isn't the Coffee House for the discussion of Anything Not scroll saw related? HAPPY THANKSGIVING Everybody!!!!!!! LarryEA 1 Quote
browders Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 I think you're right dansnow, any topic should be okay in the coffee house as long as the discourse is civil. Obesity is a serious problem in this country, contributing to heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Unfortunately, the choices people make as to what they're going to eat will probably not be affected much by published calorie counts. When someone wants a cheeseburger and fries, that's what they're going to eat regardless of whether or not it's good for them. On that note, I see a 2000 calorie Thanksgiving dinner in my near future. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! Jim Quote
Multifasited Posted November 27, 2014 Author Report Posted November 27, 2014 All I will add is ,watch ,all the up coming hardly noticeable things that will soon be very noticeable ,that are for you own good ,and the Govt.is here to protect you , The unintended circumstanses are unfortunate but needed to protect you from your self .SHOOT THE MESSENGER !! LarryEA Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 FDA -Do they have a philosophy? I think its, "If it tastes good, spit it out!" Maybe it doesn't add much to the cost, nor is a drop of water very much. But it's an add on that is constant and a constant drop of water will fill a bathtub. Who pays attention calorie count? Not I. Those in shape or just a bit over weight, maybe. Pleasantly plump, fat or obese, probably not. You want ice cream on your apple pie, you have it, you'll eat it. Additionally, I fear it's a stepping stone to more control. Doing this will not shed a pound from those who most need to. Chew on that. Quote
bobscroll Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Come on get that Lettuce leaf out! Let's EAT Bob Quote
wombatie Posted November 28, 2014 Report Posted November 28, 2014 Obesity is a big problem down here too. Not sure if your Bistros and Restaurants are the same but they put far too much on your plate and of course you eat it because its there. Maybe they should make the meals smaller and stop all of this up sizing. Marg Quote
Multifasited Posted November 28, 2014 Author Report Posted November 28, 2014 The best exercise and maybe the toughest is ,Pushing Yourself Away from the table ! That being said and true ,I don't think any Govt.has the right to over reach it's original authority ! Over 50% of this country works for some kind of Govt.Agency thats SICK! It's effeciency Sucks !
