saw decision done, now blades

I'm just getting started in scrolling. After a few days research I've decided on the Craftsman saw. It gets decent reviews, doesn't break the bank and has the required features for a beginner hobbiest.

My next question is blades. I'm going to get some spiral and reverse cut to start. The question is is there a guide somewhere that will tell me what number and what tpi is best for a certain type wood? Or, is this something that only comes with trial and error until I earn my scrolling black belt?

I hear everyone talk about Flying Dutchman blades. Where is a reputable source to buy these things? Some of the websites that come up when I google them don't look all that official.

Olson blades are as good if not better.   1-888-615-9663

I use Flying Dutchman Blades only. I order mine from Mikesworkshop.com I understand The Wooden Teddybear just bought Mike out and they are keeping his web site and prices. I just ordered a gross of blades from it and they shipped fast and kept the pricing the same. I have used Olsen in  the past, I just preer the FD myself.
