Rolf Posted September 18, 2016 Report Posted September 18, 2016 (edited) It took less than an hour to cut all of the pieces another 11 (yikes) to get the shaping, fit and finish to suite my taste. It will be auctioned this weekend at our Church fund raiser. Edited September 18, 2016 by Rolf Rob Roy, Kemaldo, Debi Shipman and 6 others 9 Quote
woodknots Posted September 18, 2016 Report Posted September 18, 2016 Nicely done Rolf really like the log slice for the backer. Hopefully it will bring a large bidding war. Quote

Dave Monk Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Beautiful job. I also love finches. We have a lot of them in the backyard. dave Quote
Rolf Posted September 21, 2016 Author Report Posted September 21, 2016 We put a Finch feeder in the backyard a couple of years ago. with the small slots and Nyger. The Finches, small woodpeckers, Chickadee's love it. Now our challenge is to attract the Humming birds. Quote
meflick Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Another piece of art Rolf. I am sure it will get great bids at the fund raiser. I suspect that people have seen enough of your work now that it is looked for with great anticipation to see what piece you have done each year. I look forward to hearing how the auction went. Quote
EarltheScroller Posted September 22, 2016 Report Posted September 22, 2016 Beautiful job. Love using the slab for a backer. Great job. Quote
rjweb Posted September 25, 2016 Report Posted September 25, 2016 If you want humming birds get a humming bird bush, we do and they drive my two labs nuts. Quote
Rolf Posted September 27, 2016 Author Report Posted September 27, 2016 We had our auction Saturday. The weather was a bit iffy in the morning so the fair overall had a lower than normal turnout. I decided to put a reserve price on my piece just to be safe, not something I normally do. There was a lively bidding tussle going on and it went for $180. I am OK with that, the good thing is it now belongs to a good friend that actually owns the first intarsia piece I ever donated. Quote
meflick Posted September 28, 2016 Report Posted September 28, 2016 Congratulations Rolf. The piece was well worth that price and sounds like it is going to a good home where it will be appreciated for years to come (and have a fellow intarsia piece to hang out with. ) Quote
Jim McDonald Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 Glad to see the piece raised good money for a good cause. Quote
