I have a 3/4 x 11 x 12 in my closet.  I bought when I thought I may try some intarsia. I'm happy cutting fretwork and until I read this post, it was probably destined to be used for a fretwork item. Shame to waste it like that. I have to rethink that plan.

I have a pretty good board of it, but always sad when wood is not available anymore.  There is still quite a bit of it listed on ebay in various sizes that an intarsia person might. be able to use.  Pen blank and knife scales, bowl blanks.  Here is one that has some bigger sizes:

Yes, I found some Yellowheart after doing a little more searching on the internet and with help from fellow woodworkers.

I posted the message from Ethan at Ochooch Lumber, Viola, WI about Yellowheart just as I received it. It is a reminder that there may be no more available in the future.

I like making intarsia projects and Yellowheart is one of my favorite woods to use. I'm going to find a few more larger pieces and stash them away.

If you are in the mid-southern PA (Chambersburg), Hagerstown, MD, Martinsburg, WV area - check with Hicksville Planing. They are a local lumber yard and have a pallet full of boards of varying widths and lengths. I don't believe they ship and, if you go, they don't take credit cards. I picked up a couple of boards least week, and they still have quite a bit.

A couple of years ago a neighbor lost a mulberry tree being a city boy he had no clue as what to do so I cut it up for him. Much to my surprise it is very yellow orange inside.  I sliced and stickered some hoping to see how it ages.

@Rolf,  I have lots of Mulberry trees around where I live.  It has beautiful wood and so does Sumac.  Pictured it a birdhouse I turned several years ago, Mulberry wood on the bottom, Bloodwood roof.  Very beautiful woods, but it only lasted a few month and both woods turned a not so pretty brown.  Of coarse they were outside.  And the finish did help from the UV even though it was suppose to.  Indoors they would last longer I am sure, but I think the Mulberry will turn brown eventually, no matter.  Least that has been my experience.

That is the technical name for Yellow Heart.  They are one and the same

Thanks for educating me.  I have one large plank of the stuff  which I have been using sparingly.  Now, I will use it even more sparingly.
