Popular Post Bpardue Posted July 27, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted July 27, 2020 Thought I would let everyone know I'm still around even though I haven't touch the scrollsaw in relation to doing Intarsia since April of this year. I posted awhile back that I had decided to build a wooden Kayak. Thought I would share a few updated photos. the majority of the woodworking is done and now I'm down to working with the epoxy & Fiberglass. I just finished sealing the inlay and accent strips and it is ready to be stained. Once it is stained I will be adding the layers of epoxy & glass to waterproof it. Badgerboy Posted July 27, 2020 Report Posted July 27, 2020 The inlay here is so wonderful. There is a forum at www.bwca.com for canoe and kayak builders which you might enjoy and find educational. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

How many layers of glass are you going to do, 3? 1 layer of glass on the deck and the entire interior of the kayak. 2 layers on the hull. Currently there is 1 layer and I'll add the second layer once I join the 2 halves together. Interior fiberglass & epoxy work is complete on the underside of the deck as well as end pours at the bow & stern. Fedido, OCtoolguy, don watson and 2 others 3 2 Quote
Fedido Posted November 4, 2020 Report Posted November 4, 2020 Alright, I have been wondering if I should tell you this. I will start with I hope it doesnt turn out like my grandfathers boat he built. He called it slicker than sh!t, mainly because when he put it in the water, it went to the bottom like it was slicker than...you know. Quote

I don't think this will leak or sink. the epoxy will waterproof everything. This thing is so light as well. it will be around 40 pounds when done. Brian Fedido 1 Quote
Fedido Posted November 6, 2020 Report Posted November 6, 2020 Glad to know it will float! Kinda important for a kayak. Quote
