I could tell Marie has super talent by some of the braggs she has posted. We have several Village members in North Carolina. It would be nice to plan a meet-up but like you said, it's hard to make the time. I'm still working full time, have a farm to tend and a mother with Dementia. As far as your organ, I never pull mine out in the street but I guess things are different on the other side of the states. 🤣

Okay but remember, you asked for it.  This was a second vid made and I have to admit I have been celebrating. completing it, just a little (too much)!  Had not really tuned very well yet, so a few flat/sharp notes hit, but you get the idea.

Warning this video may be harmful to your ears, eyes,,, and mind!

That was absolutely wonderful.  How did you do that as I am totally amazed !

Actually, I am a member of the "Family Woodworking Forum". There is a guy on there that built one.   He posted it and it created a firestorm of interest.  So they started a thread on building organs and although I came in long after it started I got interested.  I ordered the plans,  They are from the UK created by a gentlemen, sence pasted.  They are pretty crude plans mostly hand drawn and written.  Measurements in the plans at mixed some metric some in the US Imperial system.   It is where I learned to appreciate the metric system. But every bit of info needed is in those plans, but it may have to searched out.  I bought the plans and it took me two years before I build up the nerve to start it.  Once I started it took over, I became obsessed with working on it.  Took me 7 months to complete.  It is where I learned "build one piece at a time".  It will all come together. I enjoyed every step of the build. And felt great satisfaction when I completed every piece.  I had help from the forum. Lots of info from them.  The author of the plans (John Smith)  also created a video that came with the plans.  In the video you quickly learn you can do it with basic tools, and skills... He was what I call a sloppy builder.  But I kinda think that was his intent.  You did not has to have great skills to do, an average wood woodworker, could accomplish it.  What you had to have is "stick-to-it-ness, patience, One piece at a time... He made plans for and built 4 different sizes of organs.  There is one smaller than mine, and two bigger.   Mine is a 20 note organ called the "Senior 20" as is the Busker which is a little smaller,  the other two have more pipes.

The best part of build this, is the people I have met, the friendships I gained with people in several countries.  Just like here. I have some great memories.  I also have a piece sitting in my family room, that will probably go on "papa's bond fire" being planed for after my demise.   My legacy will be the best marshmallow roast in history.  If they have fun, who could ask for a better one.

ahhh, heck,,darn you.  That video was posted after this forum was down  for several days, I do not remember the reason or when.. Everyone was expressing how happy they were, I decided to SHOW how happy I was,,, Again maybe I did it after celebrating a little too much.. I have got to find a new what to celebrate!  Maybe eat popsicles, have a steak dinner,,  Something where I do not end up embarrassing my wife.  But life has to be fun, righT?

This has been the best thread...thanks it brightened my day

Doesn't take a whole lot to amuse you! just an old man making a total fool of himself.  That is the only good thing about getting old, you can act however you want and no one thinks, he is on drugs, they just think, he is an old fool, how cute?

Paul, I am a bit late on this thread...been traveling.   It was so fun to visit with you and Dick.  I learned some great ideas from the two of you I will try on my next project....as always it will be a while until it is done....if it works out.  As you know I kind of make up stuff as I go along....😊

You both were a hoot and Dick taught me some fun magic tricks I will now have to practice.   The organ would have been fun to see in person...but watching you boogie would have also been great fun! Maybe next time.  Thanks again for being such a great host...MC 🙂

Paul, you realize you're gonna have to share those plans don't you? I foresee some requests coming. Mine being the first.

If you are interested they are still available, his daughter is handling sending them out.

I think they are $45 American.  What I am not sure about is where you get some supplies you need. Like to make the bellows clothe.  This is the thread that got me started.  Only 136 pages.  There are some still building.  https://familywoodworking.org/forums/index.php?threads/organ-build.13366/

It was a happy and sad get together for me. I always love to meet new people that have the same interests as I do, but the sad part is I am not sure my wife will be up to returning to Oregon as her mobility is making it quite difficult to even get out of a chair and flying to Oregon is about out of the question. I was so glad when I  met up with Paul and Patti several years ago for lunch as we have become really good friends and this just might be the last time I get to do that. I really enjoyed meeting Marie and seeing her amazing skills at woodworking. I am so glad that Paul and I do talk on the phone several times a year and that will continue for a long time to come, I hope.

Paul, looks like you had a great time demonstrating the organ.  Thanks for that.  It is great that you @MarieC and @heppnerguy were able to get together. I wish there were members close to my location to meet up with. @MarieC, looking forward to seeing what you are planning next.

Hi Barb, if you’re ever going through Alberta let me know, I’d love to have you out for a visit.

My favorite.  I’ve seen this a while back (unless there are more of these happy dance videos made by Paul, there probably are) and every time I’m screwing-up I think of this video and it cheers me up. Thanks Paul !!!
