Popular Post Timberdan Posted March 11, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted March 11, 2024 Just finished a JGR chocolate lab pattern for my niece who has one . The whole pattern is made from various shades of black walnut and the eyes are made from yellow heart and a maple dowel that I dyed with analine dye powder to get the proper dark brown that I wanted for the pupils. The original pattern uses the wonder wheel to etch the wood but I like to use the wood grain instead to get the same effect. I just retired last year so Im starting to get back into the intarsia and fretwork again after I rebuilt my EX- 21 last year. The saw works great again and a pleasure to cut with. Thanks for viewing. Scrappile Posted March 11, 2024 Report Posted March 11, 2024 (edited) That is awesome. I need to get that pattern only for my yellow Lab. I had a Chocolate Lab many years ago. He was beautiful but the wildest dog I ever owned. Distroyed every thing. I could not tame him.. so I advertised him, for free to any family, with several young kids and that live on a farm. First people that came were in a VW bug, with four young kids in the back. I introduced them to the dog. And everyone including the dog was ecstatic! Like they were all meant for each other. I told "Trampus" get in the car and go bye bye. Only time he obeyed me. No hesitation, got in the back seat across 4 young children and did not even say good-bye to me. I think he had a great life. I never felt bad about it. My current Lab is perfect for me... so quiet and calm, as long as I throw the ball for him a few times a day. Timberdan Posted March 12, 2024 Author Report Posted March 12, 2024 Thanks again to all the great feedback . Hey Scrappile I had the same kind of issues with a lab setter cross and found a good home on a farm with a pond and a couple of young kids. The dog loved water and she lived out the rest of her days on the farm no regrets either. One thing I forgot to mention about the project is that I finally found Old Masters gel stain in natural and I just love the finnish that it produced and it's easy to apply and wipe . I have two favorites for stains... Old Masters and General.. Both are great for me. You know,, "I do not stain a lot, but when I do I chose "old Masters" or General" Edited March 13, 2024 by Scrappile Quote
