Popular Post Blaughn Posted September 10, 2024 Popular Post Report Posted September 10, 2024 (edited) I wanted to scroll this verse in plaques for my two college age Grandsons. My daughter has it hanging in her office and the boys have remarked that they like the verse but that the plaque treatment is too "Girly" for them. These are cut from a single "generous" 4-quarters blank of live-edge cherry yielding 4 blanks roughly 3/8" thick. The four were then edge squared, planed and joined as a single piece - backed by 1'2" birch ply. They are "drying" after a coat of Danish oil and I will apply Shellac when they are ready. Bill WIlson Posted September 11, 2024 Report Posted September 11, 2024 Nicely done. I've said many times that text is one of the hardest things to scroll well, especially fonts such as what are in that pattern. You did an excellent job! Blaughn and Jim McDonald 2 Quote

Text of any type is nerve wracking since there is zero tolerance. You captured it well on some good looking stock. MarieC and Blaughn 2 Quote

Blaughn Posted September 11, 2024 Author Report Posted September 11, 2024 I am considering cutting serrations into the sides to give a broken log appearance. My bride of 54 summers says no. Hmmmmmmm Quote

Would hate to risk spoiling what is very nice work. jpburcham 1 Quote

Blaughn Posted September 11, 2024 Author Report Posted September 11, 2024 Thank you! Your input is valuable to me. Besides, my bride of 54 summers thinks I should "leave it as is......" Quote

heppnerguy Posted September 13, 2024 Report Posted September 13, 2024 Sometimes the guys think everything should be bold to be masculine, they will get over that once they get married and start having a family. Personally I think they are perfect as they are and they should be very grateful they have someone that is will to give them things they made and some day they will cherish it just because you made it just for them. Beautifully done. Dick heppnerguy Blaughn 1 Quote
