jimmyG Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 I saved a years worth of scroll saw blades instead of throwing them away and now I'm looking for creative ideas for what I could do/make with these??? OCtoolguy and TAIrving 2 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 I have a few years worth hanging around. I keep an old wrapping paper tube strapped to my saw and just drop them in there when they are dull. OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 You already made sawdust from them. Glue the to a board just like they are in the picture and call it a sculpture. GPscroller, OCtoolguy and barb.j.enders 2 1 Quote
JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 If you are into casting you can make some kind of art globe. I made a few of these over the years. Give to scrollers. TexasDIY, kenr, Wichman and 5 others 8 Quote
Wichman Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 Accent pieces for scroll saw or other art, i.e. porcupine quills, Mohawk hair, upright or spikey hair. Take about an inch diameter amount and wrap a rubber band around one end. Hot glue one end and you've got yourself a wire whisk brush. barb.j.enders, GPscroller and OCtoolguy 3 Quote
Dan Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 You could leave them together to make a Chinese finger trap. Or is that a bad idea? Wichman, TAIrving, GPscroller and 3 others 6 Quote
JTTHECLOCKMAN Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 This is where creative and artistic minds come into play. Some sort of wall art or even some sort of a clock. Maybe use as lettering. Use as framing or border on a scrollsawn piece. I am sure there is a few ideas out there. I at one time started saving old blades but quickly realized way too many so I ditched them and do not save any now. Unless I am making something in particular. OCtoolguy and barb.j.enders 2 Quote
preprius Posted December 8, 2024 Report Posted December 8, 2024 They stick to magnets. So magnets could be a media base. Make clock hands, main clock springs might need to learn heat treating methods. Melt them down for Damascus knives. Hatbands for cowboy hats Similar to barb wire frames. rash_powder Posted December 10, 2024 Report Posted December 10, 2024 Find yourself a custom knife maker and see if they won't forge a blade for you from them. There is a person on YouTube that will forge a blade from nearly anything - bearings, screws, steel cable, etc - just to see if it can be done and what comes out. Maybe one of the YouTube persons can do if for you Quote
