Charlie E Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 Don’t want anyone to find your hidden key. Hide it behind a decoy. Don’t spread it around. OCtoolguy, Scrappile, barb.j.enders and 1 other 4 Quote
Bill WIlson Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 Don't think that would work for me. I'd always be grabbing the decoy and wondering why it wouldn't unlock the door. OCtoolguy, Charlie E, barb.j.enders and 1 other 4 Quote
don in brooklin on Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 Cute idea. We bought a lock box from Amazon (like the one the realtors use without the cable). The reason we bought it was, we were out for a walk and the power went off. We usually come it out of the garage and I did not have our keys. It came one a short time later. We have never had that issue again but an EMT friend thought it was a good idea as they have gone to emergencies and can not enter as the occupant fell and can not open the door. They end up breaking the door but if they could get the code all would be good. danny and OCtoolguy 2 Quote
Wichman Posted January 29 Report Posted January 29 You need to add to the hidden compartment a rolled up note: "Do you want to play a game?" Jim McDonald, Charlie E and OCtoolguy 3 Quote
barb.j.enders Posted January 30 Report Posted January 30 We purchased a keyless lock for our back door a number of years ago. Our daughter kept loosing her keys. Works great, until it doesn't. And as with all things, at the worst time. She and a friend were trying to get in the house on a -40 C day. We had just sat down to lunch at a restaurant and wouldn't be home for at least an hour. Lock didn't work. Battery had died! Also, the battery gets fussy at the extreme temps!! Charlie E and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote

This one is for my shop. I have one hidden for my house that my daughter knows about and she is bad not to put it back. So I have a spare hidden that I won’t tell her about. danny, barb.j.enders, ChelCass and 1 other 1 3 Quote
rjweb Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 Why not get a coded lock system, punch in your numbers and it opens, that's what we use at my sons house because the kids keep loosing keys, RJ danny, OCtoolguy and barb.j.enders 3 Quote
