Barb,

Very nice vision and artistry.

it has been awhile since i cut some bloodwood. I have recently cut paduak.  I do remember bloodwood was hard.  But i had to look up the hardness.

Common Name(s): Bloodwood, Satine  Janka Hardness: 2,900 lbf

compared to Paduak...

Common Name(s): African padauk, vermillion   Janka Hardness   1,710 lbf

Again very nice inspiring work.

It is a very hard wood.  I started with my #5 MG blade.  Switched to a #5 full reverse.  Switched to a #7 skip tooth. Then after cutting a couple of pieces I switched to Paduk with a #5 MG blade.

Latest piece.  Woods include Poplar, Tigerwood, Bloodwood, Paduk and Walnut.  Finished with shellac.  9.5" diameter.  I had issues cutting the Bloodwood so after a couple of pieces I switched to the Paduk.

I saw this project on Sky's web sight and really loved it. You got this one down pat. It came out absolutely beautiful. You have come a long ways in the past couple of years, trying different things with wood and it looks like everything you try, you are very successful at doing it well. Congratulations on your successes. It has to be very rewarding for you too.

Again, thanks for the very humbling comments.  The original designer, Steve Shears, had gifted the pattern to me before it got posted on his web page.  I think Sky was the first person to complete it.
