Popular Post Old Joe Posted April 29 Popular Post Posted April 29 (edited) I did this one last year, (before life interrupted my craft endeavors),but I don’t think I shared it here. It started with the Treehouse pattern by Charles Hand, but I changed it up and it morphed into a bit more. I decided to use solid African Rosewood instead of Baltic Birch and to make the tree considerably larger. As shown in the pictures, I did a recessed cut, added the girl in the swing, the little birdhouse,and backed it in 1/4” Baltic Birch with the various inlays. I carved the bark into the entire tree, even the tiny branches, and added the knothole. I am now learning pyrography and when I get more comfortable , I plan to add a little more detail to the backboard. Edited April 29 by Old Joe Errors in grammar. As to the action, I did all of the inlay totally freehand, basically drawing with my blade. I wanted to add more, but chickened out, fearing I would screw it up. I am practicing pyrography and when I gain more skill and confidence with it, I have some ideas I would like to add. Quote
