Aggie Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Hi all I finally decided to upgrade my scroll saw. I been using cheap scroll saws since I started doing cutting ( 99 - 130 dollars saws ) my last saw was a wen for 99 bucks and I just got tried of the cheap ones. I wanted to get a Dewalt 22in but it was to cost to much so I decided on a Bauer 22in. The saw is is like the difference between night and day, I love how it cuts and changing the blades are so much better than the cheap saws. I'm wondering why I didn't upgrade years ago. That Bauer saw just came out in Aug of 2024 and is too new to know exactly it will stand up to hard use. If occassional work load then should be fine. Good luck and have un. OCtoolguy Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I'm truly hoping that the Bauer saw will be a winner. It is priced perfectly for folks who just want a better saw. It can be upgraded with the Pegas blade clamps but that will add another $100 to it. If you are happy with it the way it is, leave it alone. Once you get going with it, how about posting some pics of what you are making. We all love pics. Congrats on the new toy. Enjoy. tomsteve and Aggie 2 Quote
Denny Knappen Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Just to correct Ray, Pegas had a price increase. The MSRP is now $140, but every once in a while, I have a special price. OCtoolguy 1 Quote

pngeezer Posted August 9 Posted August 9 In general I'm happy with my Bauer 22". Only issue I've had is the blower hose broke off at the base and HF doesn't sell a replacement. I was able to cobble together a new base plate and a piece of clear tubing, but the original is definitely a point of failure on this machine. Had I bought the extended warranty they would have just replaced the entire machine! Jim OCtoolguy and barb.j.enders 2 Quote
rjweb Posted August 9 Posted August 9 How much is the extended coverage cost for the saw might be worth it for anyone else going to purchase the Bauer scroll saw, RJ OCtoolguy 1 Quote
Aggie Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 (edited) So far I happy with the Bauer 22 the only thing I can say negative about it is the thumb screw for the blades bends the tip of the blades. I ordered the Pegasus thumb screws from bearwood and now just waiting for them to come in the mail. I got the extended warranty and they said I could get a new saw or my money back for the next 2 years, no questions ask even if I didn't like the saw anymore. BTW, the thumb screws are probably not set right which would cause the bending the tips of the blades. Aggie and OCtoolguy 1 1 Quote
don in brooklin on Posted August 12 Posted August 12 For the blower you might want to check with Seyco for the exact measurement of the blower attachment they sell. Looks the same but metal. https://seyco.com/product/adb-10/ OCtoolguy and Aggie 2 Quote
pngeezer Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Thanks Don, I will look into that Seyco part to see if the base is the same size as the Bauer. Jim OCtoolguy and Aggie 2 Quote
GregBennett Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Aggie-I've had the Bauer since last September and love it. I replaced the top blade holder with the Pegas, but still have the Bauer clamp on the bottom. I've found through trial and error the blade tips bend for several reasons. The first one is when the blade isn't all the way into the slot and left short. The other reason I've found is when the set screw on the opposite side of the thumbscrew isn't centered in the clamp. I've only had this issue with the bottom clamp, but it's harder to see than the top one. barb.j.enders, Aggie and OCtoolguy 2 1 Quote
Aggie Posted August 15 Author Posted August 15 I received my Pegasus thumb screws and replaced them last night. I cut about 60 drill holes and the tip of the blade didn't bend, while using the Bauer screws the blade would band with the 1st time i changed it. The new screws seemed to fix my problem. Quote
