red river Posted Friday at 11:47 PM Posted Friday at 11:47 PM I'm going to take the plunge and do an intarsia project. I don't know how to show the bonsai tree I have my eye on. It's on Etsy under LKGlorius prints. I am hoping someone will take a peek at it and tell me what thickness of wood they would use on a 8.5x11 pattern. I have wood for 3/4 and 1/2 in . 3/4 seems to thick. Thanx in advance. forrest Quote
Sycamore67 Posted Saturday at 01:58 AM Posted Saturday at 01:58 AM You can use any thickness you want. I use 3/4 most of the time. Unfortunately, most folks simply round off the edges of every piece. I try to create more depth and shape to the pieces to create more of a 3 d effect. Quote
barb.j.enders Posted Saturday at 12:08 PM Posted Saturday at 12:08 PM I think I saw your post on FB. If it is what I am thinking, nice pattern. I use 3/4 so it can be shaped more drastically than thinner. On FB you were asking about the backer. I have done some narrow areas with a backer. I feel that if the piece is hanging, it should be fine. Thinking if my Heron piece, if you want to look back. Quote
