  3. Love the clock idea Edward. Great job on cutting that one. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW
  4. Len I was speaking relatively. Both Poplar and Birch are relatively soft compared to some woods like maple, oak, yellowheart. purpleheart. Plywood in general is much harder on blades than solid wood as the glues tend to be abrasive on the blades. However for the discussion at hand I agree with most everyone about the blade choices. Personal preferences on what blade to use for what comes with experience. DW
  5. Nice Dan. Great job on those. Thanks for sharing them with us. DW

  7. Rusty that is how it starts. I made a cross for a Reverend friend of mine to wear and gave it to him for Christmas and several of his friends have ordered this cross as well. Your cutting is excellent it is no wonder they bought it. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW

  9. Very nicely done Dennis. Thanks for sharing this with us. It is always somewhat of a challenge to cut those very thin areas. One trick I use is a piece of thin plexiglass with a hole in the center that is just big enough for the blade to go through. This zero clearance sheet is held onto my table by a couple of rare earth magnets. Worse part of using it is getting it off the table the magnets are very strong hehe. DW
  10. Ray, Both of the woods you have mentioned are softwoods. A #3 ultra reverse at a medium speed will do you for most cutting of 3/4 or less. You can use a larger numbered blade or a spiral blade. The spirals have a learning curve to them. Personally I tend to use a #3 or a #5 blade reverse or not depending upon which wood I am cutting. Depending upon how fine you are cutting you might want to think about making a zero clearance insert for your saw to help support the work. Hope this helps. DW

  25. Anya Plaque Found this pattern that looks a lot like my cousins furbaby Anya . Cut this for her birthday later this month. Cut from ¼ in. Poplar backed with 1/4in maple ply. Stained with Colonial Pine and then finished with shellac. Spoon Rest Found 4 of these olive wood mini cutting boards in the HomeGoods store in our area and turned one of them into this spoon rest. It has been finished with shellac. DW
