Really nice cuttings.
May I suggest, now you could try some 3/4" pine and
cut those same projects. After they are cut, round the edges over
to please your eye.
You could either cut them as a segmented piece (since they're to be painted)
or, follow the grain directions on the patterns for the intarsia look. Of course,
if you use the intarsia style with the grain directions changing, you would probably
just want to use a thinned down paint job so the grain still shows through.
(these are just some rambling thoughts that you may be interested in trying).
