  2. Greetings, Gregory, I didn't mind what you called rambling at all. Seems a lot more friendly than some intros and lots of new members don't even bother to introduce themselves. They just immediately begin asking for a free pattern or answers about something. Look around to familiarize yourself with the site and then please show us some of your projects. God Bless! Spirithorse

  4. Hello, Dick, I think that is #P594 from the old Berry Basket site. I think www.scrollsaw.com will get you to the site. I am in the process of using letters from that pattern to make a Protestant Version with the word trespasses in lieu of debts. God Bless! Spirithorse
  5. They're both fantastic, Dave, Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse

  9. less!Hi, Travis, Word art was already mentioned which you may be including in Signs. Another category could be Utilitarian unless you are labeling that as Home Items. Thanks for always trying to make the site fresh and user friendly and a big thanks for asking for input from the members. God Bless! Spirithorse
  10. Beautiful work! I really like the colors of the woods like the blue pine and your cutting is superb! Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse

  12. I also use Wayne's description with the grain going in the longest direction of the stock EXCEPT if I want a particular area of the grain to help simulate water or clouds or something like that. In that case, I try to use the wood grain to best represent or enhance the cutting. Thanks for an interesting question for the group to ponder. God Bless! Spirithorse
  13. Hi, Rocky, I know you said propane and natural gas are NOT an option but, you failed to say why so, I thought I'd show you one option that is cheap and should work well enough to heat your shop. It is propane but, it can use the small cylinders like gas barbecue grills use or use a 100 lb cylinder. Here is a link from HarborFreight but, you can find them locally in big box stores or hardware stores. https://www.harborfreight.com/15000-btu-tank-top-propane-heater-63073.html I do not personally like kerosene but, there are a lot of kerosene heaters that would work well also. The forced air kerosene heaters like some of my friends use to work on their cars seem to be much more efficient and, once the area is heated, you can turn it off and the area shouldn't lose heat too rapidly. Good luck and God Bless! Spirithorse

  20. Tensioning spiral blades can be tough sometimes in itself. Make sure the ends of the blades are fitting into the blade clamps correctly which may make it necessary to twist the blades with two pair of pliars to make each end parallel to each other. Also wipe or sand the oil off the ends of the blades so they do not slide in the blade clamps resulting in losing tension. Great job on the portrait considering the new experience of spiral blades. God Bless! Spirithorse
  21. Hi, Ray, Well done on your project! I think one point that hasn't been made is that the designer may not be a scroller and may not have test cut the patterns. Therefore, some of the patterns we see have areas that are almost impossible. In that case, if the cut is too small to be made it probably isn't that noticeable in the final project to begin with. God Bless! Spirithorse
  22. Hi, Wayne, Perhaps it really depends on where you live but, in my area wolves have always been very popular and I have always been fascinated with wolf images. Some just look more like dogs than wolves but, some patterns really catch my eye. I don't do many crafts shows but, would make things that appeal to me, take them to work, and usually get a lot of orders. Not necessarily orders for the items I took but, people would say, for example, if you can do a wolf, can you do something like a (insert favorite dog breed here). I think I did sell a total of 5 of the Judy Gale Roberts wolf that Scrollsaw Slasher shows. Some people wanted lighter or darker color variations but, all of the ones I did were stained pine and no variations of the pattern other than the colors. Since I used no exotic wood, I sold them cheap. God Bless! Spirithorse
  23. I have no knowledge of this saw but, I liked this feature that they list: Blade can be turned 90 degrees for infinite cutting length I mentioned a long time ago on this forum that I thought that would be a nice feature and at least one member of the forum acted like I was crazy and why would I want to be able to do that (even though the same member admitted that they had bent blades 90 degrees to perform the same function). Thanks for sharing the link and God Bless! Spirithorse
  24. Very nice work, Dan, I too am impressed with the mini bird house. God Bless! Spirithorse
  25. Very nice! Did you have to glue the floaters back onto the backer or am I missing something? God Bless! Spirithorse
