  1. Hi, Paul, I hope not to hi-jack your thread but, I have a question along the same lines. Why sand between coats of polyurethane at all? I seem to have good success with a wonderful finish by applying the coats of polyurethane, allowing it to absorb into the wood and get fiarly well dry, and then applying additional coats. After about 3 or 4 coats, I let that dry over-night and apply the final coat. The instructions on the can never made sense to me that it can be re-applied WITHIN 2 HOURS but, if you don't re-apply that quickly let it dry for 72 hours. That doesn't sound like quick drying to me. God Bless! Spirithorse
  2. Good on ya', Paul! I know I have told you several times in the past that your work is fantastic and you really should sell some. I realize you don't want your hobby to become a job but, I'm glad you are seeing some money for all your hard work. God Bless! Spirithorse

  7. Jollyred was on the right wave-length but, had the formula wrong. Changing the dimensions to decimals, 2.75 divided by 1.375 is 2 or 200%. It should be 1.375 (the size you want) divided by 2.75 (the size of the original. That equals .5 which is 50% of the original size. Thanks to all the members that helped out. God Bless! Spirithorse
  8. Hi, Dave, I read the same info on standard wood glue slightly thinned down. It is supposed to give a clear, water-proof finish but, I have always been afraid to try it. Now you have piqued my interest enough that I am going to try it on some scap pieces. God Bless! Spirithorse
  9. In November 2013 Jim also pointed out a tutorial by Steve Good. Here's a quote from that post: Steve Good has a tutorial on this. "Double bevel inlay" or "double bevel marquetry". Images are easier to do than is lettering. I suggest you start with that. [email protected] God Bless! Spirithorse
  10. I do not recall the finished size of your project but, it appears to be more than 16" so, you can use two saw-tooth hangers spaced 16" from the center of each hanger. This allows you to put nails in two studs which are 16" from center to center and will support several pounds. God Bless! Spirithorse
