  2. Hi, Vykus, I surmise that the threaded rod and the nut are neither 1/4" nor metric. These manufacturers like to thread their own sizes so that you MUST use their replacement parts (in theory). You can re-thread the original parts to a standard size thread but, it will have to be small enough to allow you to tap both parts. If you can replace the original parts with standard thread sizes, it would be much easier. I could not find a schematic with enough clarity to see the parts and could not find an owner's manual that would identify the parts. Do you have a manual with the parts listed? If you send a clear photo of how the threaded rod and the nut attach to your saw and how they disassemble to spirithorse55 at hotmail dot com I'll let you know if it looks like I am envisioning. In the mean-time, look at the schematic of a Black and Decker scroll saw and see if it resembles yours. Those parts might be interchangeable. God Bless! Spirithorse
  3. Great work, Hans! Your cuts are always a pleasure to view. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
  4. Greetings, I don't know how small the crosses are but, if they are small enough, I would round the edges over just enough to eliminate any sharp edges and leave them as is for a pocket cross. Some people, myself included, just like to carry a cross in their pocket and every time you get any change out of your pocket there is a symbol of your faith there to help keep your priorities straight. That, of course, is just my interpretation of why I carry my cross. God Bless! Spirithorse
  5. I always stain the pieces and then glue but, if you were careful when glueing everything up, you should be able to clean the glue squeeze-out before it dries. God Bless! Spirithorse

  11. I'm not trying to pick on anybody here and everyone is allowed their own opinion but, it really chaps my butt when people make a generalized statement like "You won't be happy with a Craftsman". How in the world do you know what someone else will be happy with? How do you have any idea what someone else can fit in their budget? I started out with a Harbor Freight saw and will still put any of my projects beside yours and dare you to tell me which saw cut which project. That saw, by the way, is still working after at least 11 years and had the best blade alighnment of ANY saw I have seen. I then bought a Black and Decker saw because it had variable speed and a larger table. It worked fine and is still running but, I did get over-zealous with the tensioner on that because instead of a cam lever tensioner you turned the lever on the rear of the saw then locked it down so, I stripped the threaded rod twice (about a $9 fix). I am now using a Craftsman because it is a larger table/larger throat.. I do NOT endorse Craftsman because of the trouble getting any help from Sears for anything and if you have to get a part, you can almost guarantee you'll have to order it for ANYTHING you buy at Sears. Other than that, the Craftsman saw I am using has more than paid for itself with some pretty good pieces of fret-work, Intarsia, and crafts. Go back to the posts on this forum alone and see how many posts you find that say, Whoops trouble with my Excaliber or Dewalt. Make any comments you wish about my post but, as far as I'm concerned, I have already said all I have to say on the subject.
  12. Great work! Do you use tung oil often? I really like your cabin sign and would hate to see it harmed by a bad finish so, I hope you test the finish on a piece of scrap first. The reason I brought it up is because a friend of mine made a beautiful intarsia piece and parts of it turned really, really black when he applied tung oil. I don't know if that happens frequently and I have to make a disclaimer here that I have never used tung oil myself. I'm just trying to prevent any unfortunate mis-haps. Once again, great work on both of the pieces and that Welcome Cabin is fantastic! God Bless! Spirithorse
  13. Fantastic work, Dick, Thanks for sharing with us. As for the fuzzies, have you tried burning most of the fuzzies off from the back side with a propane torch or pencil torch? Just a few quick, light passes should take care of most of them and leaves a lot less sanding and less opportunity for breaking any pieces. God Bless! Spirithorse

  17. Dave, Your customer is really going to be pleased and, if they have any idea at all about making a pattern that can be cut with-out falling apart or any knowledge of scrollsaws they will be awe-struck. Your progression from beginner to your present degree of expertise are amazing! Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
