  1. Hi, Dave, I think you are going to an awful lot of extra work in cutting the wood into strips and alternating the grain to begin with. If you think the extra moisture from the glue is part of the problem, perhaps you can just eliminate the sawing and glue up. When glueing the backer onto the plaque , it really takes a lot less glue than most people realize. Perhaps you can ease up on the amount of glue you are using there and, if you are still concerned about the backer not adhering well enough, with 5/8" stock you can easily add a few brads. If you do want to finish the wood on both sides, I think the glue will still hold just fine unless you are using an oil based finish and, if you add the brads mentioned, that will eliminate that worry also. You certainly do amazing work and your attention to detail is commendable. Good luck and God Bless! Spirithorse
  2. Fantastic! Especially for the first project and particularly challenging with a spiral blade! She should definitely keep a photo of this with the date on it. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
  3. Great work! Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
  4. I can only agree with all the comments already said. I, too, really enjoy seeing your work. Thanks for sharing the pattern and thanks for showing your work. Dave, you forgot to sign your pattern so people know who to thank in the future. God Bless! Spirithorse
  5. I can't say tht it is the best but, I would use a mitre/miter saw. The fine teeth are accurate for cutting mitres/miters so, it should be fine for cutting sheets to a useful size. God Bless! Spirithorse
  6. Great job! How many cuts are in that, please? The Rolling Stones is my foreman's favorite band and he would really enjoy this. God Bless! Spirithorse
  7. Fantastic cutting and a beautiful project. On a side note; did anyone else look at this and get an optical illusion of the center portion looking like it was raised from the outer edge and look again and see the depth where the candle sits into it? God Bless! Spirithorse
  8. Stue, This address works for me http://berrybasket.com/ It's the same site as you can see on the bottom of the page. Thanks for the info, Dick. I wish they would up-date the free religious patterns. The new owner, Benjamin Jones said he didn't feel right charging for religious patterns and would be offering them free. Hasn't happened yet! God Bless! Spirithorse
  9. Beautiful! I would NEVER have glued the bread box to the cutting board! They are absolutely two Stand-Alone projects that you should be extremely proud of. God Bless! Spirithorse
  10. Fantastic! You sure don't shy away from making patterns with lots of holes and cutting them! Great work! Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
  11. I agree with all the comments! Beautiful inlay work, great wood contrast, and fantastic cutting. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
  12. I thought that Hans, known as Bendita, made this from a crochet picture or something. I'm almost certain he cut it so you can contact him and possibly get some information. God Bless! Spirithorse

  14. VEry nice work! I don't know if it would help with the lighting or not but, it would be easy to try, Just temporarily tape or hot glue a piece of aluminum foil to the roof portion to see if the light will reflect downward off of that. It wouldn't help send any light into the star but, may add more light to the top portion of the rest of the cutting. I'm thinking maybe a piece of aluminum foil about 1 1/2 inches wide with a small fold to attach it to the roof so it is still hidden behind the wood. Anyway, your cutting and modifications are excellent. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse
  15. Thanks again for the offer and I admire your generosity to help someone else. I just want to let the forum community know I have passed up this offer so, I think it is still available if you want to contact Sycamore67. God Bless! Spirithorse
  16. I may be interested but, will have to find out how far the drive is for me and when I can take some vacation time for a day trip. Please expect a Private Message on this site from Spirithorse. Someone just asked me if I would give them lessons and this would be perfect to let him start out. If he doesn't enjoy the hobby I'll pass the saw along to someone else. God Bless! Spirithorse

  23. Hi, Edward, I did that about a month ago and now you can't tell and I haven't even been doing scrollsaw work because I had my right hand operated on. I agree with hawkeye10 and Rob Roy. All the flat surfaces in the shop are covered so now I've got patterns and ideas for patterns on about every flat surface in the living room. God Bless! Spirithorse
