  1. Nicely done Gordie, don't you just love it when you come across a winner like these are? How do you know what names to cut out, do you just go by what people order in advance? Or, do you just cut random names hoping they will sell until you get some orders? Over three hundred, now that's impressive. Len
  2. Nicely done Terry, but that the owl in the tree sure looks as if it would be quite delicate. Len
  3. Frank, what were their prices like, and did they charge you in Can. or U.S. dollars? I've found Michaels to be a bit disappointing in Canada, they don't carry half the products that the american stores do. It's quite aggravating at times, I read about these wonderful products but I can't buy them in Canada. And with our dollar being as low as it is right now, it's cost prohibitive to get anything shipped from the states. I know I can't afford to give up $33.00 on the hundred, then add in the cost of shipping. Len
  4. Newf, it depends on what the bowl is going to be used for. If it is a bowl that will be used on a regular basis, and used for food purposes then I agree mineral oil is the way to go. But, if the bowl is going to be used for decorating or display purposes, then a different type of finish can be used. Personally, I like to treat my bowls with a coating or two of BLO, then a couple of finish coats of Lacquer. I don't turn large bowl yet, and the ones that I do turn are mostly used as candy dishes or display purposes. With finishing this way, I've never had any issues. Len
  5. Jim, if your work space is dusty, try spraying a light misting of water on the floor. You get as much dust in the air from walking through the dust on the floor, as you will from a light sanding job. Most auto body shops will wet the floor before starting to paint, that's just to keep the dust down. If you try this, you will be surprised at how much difference it makes. Len
  6. Pete, I saw the pattern, I was just interested in seeing a better picture of your work. With the picture being taken on an angle as it is, it makes it hard to really see what this cutting looks like done in oak. If you don't have a better picture, or don't want to post another picture that's fine. Len
  7. Helmut, are all of the figures at the base of this pyramid hand carved? If so, even more impressive. Len

    Pyramide

Helmut, at 4 feet tall, it has to be one heck of a pyramid. I look forward to seeing it, hopefully you'll try to reload the picture. Len
  9. Jim, you think it looks OK, well, I think it looks spectacular. What an amazing cut, you must have nerves of steel. Thanks for sharing this masterpiece with us. Len
  10. Pete, could you post a picture face on, as mentioned, it's hard to really get a good look at the way it's angled? Len
  11. Nicely done, he should be pleased with it. Len
  12. I agree 100% with Margs statement, it is amazing!!! Len
  13. John, after having used both saws mentioned here, IMO the EX is definitely worth the extra $. Len
  14. Nicely done Frank, I'm sure your grandchildren will love getting them. Len
  15. They look great Larry, but, do you feel that you really need the jig? I've cut out many of this type of ornament, but, I've never used a jig. Len
  16. Dan, these were in one of the scroller mags. I'm not sure, but, I think it was the CWWC mag that issued them. Len
  17. I agree with Marg, this one looks fantastic. Len
  18. Nicely done Jim, this one looks as if it could be cut with a flat blade. Len
  19. Nicely done Jerry, I sure that Sue will appreciate having it to use. Len
  20. Two very nice looking pieces Bobby, I'm sure that one of your late BIL will be greatly appreciated. I do have one question though, what took you so long to try out the FD blades? Len
  21. Tony, that's a nice sentiment, what did you use for an infill? Len
  22. Now that's downsizing Jerry, they look great. Len
