  1. Would it be possible to tape it to the stand, so that you could operate it by using your knee? I own a foot pedal, and that's how I used it. Len
  2. Nicely done Wayne, but it does look like it would be fragile. Len
  3. Neat idea. Len
  4. Neat video Alex, I cut my backers at the same time as I cut the top piece. I usually cut a bunch of them in advance, it works for me because all of my cuttings of this type are the same size. Len
  5. Berry, my EX did this a couple of times over the years, sometimes reloading the blade will make a difference. Another thing that might help, you could loosen the table bolts on the front of the saw and push the table in the opposite direction of the scrape. Just loosen the bolts, don't remove them completely. Another fix, push the top arm over into the opposite direction of the scrape, you don't have to push it to hard just push it. Len
  6. Paul, even with the issues with the wood, you did an amazing job bringing this together. It looks fantastic, that curly maple is amazing. Len
  7. lol Paul, now you tell me, if I had known that you were only joking I wouldn't have left such a long reply. That proves to me, that I should leave shorter replies. Len
  8. Kevin, your Mustang clock looks great, that's a different location for the clock. Len
  9. Nicely done Wayne, I really like the look of this cutting. Len
  10. Nicely done Jim, all three pieces are outstanding. Len
  11. Montl, you've been busy, these all look great. I especially like the "O Holy Night" cutting, it's gorgeous. Len
  12. Nicely done Jim, it looks to be a pretty straight forward cutting, will you be adding a backer? Len
  13. Nicely done Runa, you've been extra busy. Len
  14. Paul, seeing as how he will be the last person to have anything to do with making it, he will probably be the one to keep it. Plus, since it was his idea originally, don't you think it should be his? If you were to get anything out of the deal, I would expect it to be praise and possibly a few dollars for your work. What do you think, would you be alright with that? Up front is the time to figure out who is going to get what out of the partnership, doing so makes for a better ending to the partnership. Of course, you guys could always make two of whatever you decide to make, then both would end up pleased. Len
  15. I love this type of cutting, it's right up my alley. The more detail the better, and these two have details. Len
  16. Check out the pattern library then, you might find something that will be appropriate for your area. Or you could check out the dog puzzle patterns that Iggy is selling, he has had great luck selling his cuttings. Len
  17. Edward, I hardly ever marked my items down, once I decided on a price I stuck to it. What I did do with a couple of items, was I marked a few up and then a couple down in price. Sometimes, that worked. I had a reason for not marking my items down, the customers were always the same people. They remembered the prices from week to week, if I changed the prices they noticed. Len P.S. Then again, it would be wise to keep the wife happy.
  18. Jeff, I think we're both thinking of the same thing, but we're wording it differently. I'll explain what I mean, take a small metal washer that has about a 1/8-3/16" from the outer edge to the edge of the hole. Then place the cutting on what you intend to use for a backer, and place the pencil in the washer and trace around the outside of the cutting. That's all there is to it, it's very easy to do. I own a selection of washers with different distances, between the outer edge and the inner edge you hold the pencil against. The different sizes, work nice for different sized items. Len
  19. Jeff, if this outstanding cutting was mine to frame, I'd frame it with a 1/8"-3/16" washer border. Framed that way, all of the attention is paid to the main subject. Personally, I think if it was fully framed, that there would be just to much black. Len
  20. Alan, good luck on getting a group together. Len
  21. You fellows should join the site, there's lots of patterns there that aren't available anywhere else. Gayle Mortenson is the owner of the site, her patterns are excellent and she only offers them on there. She's a magnificient pattern designer, but she's missing in action right now, she's having rotater cuff issues. Len
  22. Nice going Paul, I used to scroll and watch the races at the same time. Some people have asked me how I could scroll and watch the race at the same time, I tell them no problem, during the time the races were on there is an overload of comericals. I cut while the commericals are playing, you'd be surprised how much you can get cut when watching a whole race. Len
  23. Lawson, I've never used one on scroll saw blades, but I've used them on bandsaw blades. They do a descent job as long as you use them often enough, but on scroll work I'd be afraid of them staining the wood. They may not, but I do mostly fretwork and wouldn't chance it. The one I have is kind of purple in color in the tube, but when applied it seems to be clear. Len
  24. Dave, if you did this piece using spiral blades, then you definitely don't suck at using them. This little Datsun looks amazing, there's no wonder the customer likes it. Len
  25. Exceptional! Len
