  1. Leshko, those are some pretty amazing puzzles, they all look like they would be interesting to work on. Len
  2. Runa, get your feet wet, put them up for sale. You never know, they may be good sellers. We're our own worst enemies, we never think our work is good enough to sell. Especially, when first starting out. You will find out what others think of your work, and if you really want to continue trying to sell your wares. Plus, the sooner you start selling your work, the sooner you will start raising money for your new saw. You may be surprised at how well things sell, then you'll be sorry that you didn't start selling earlier then you did. If you don't try selling your work now, how will you know it will sell later on? Len
  3. How comfortable are you with buying a 27 year old saw? I wouldn't be very comfortable buying it, surely to goodness you can find something newer. They are not a real popular saw, and are parts still available if something goes wrong? Len
  4. Runa, I think your lamps look amazingly nice, I wouldn't mind owning any of them. Len
  5. You are probably using a reverse tooth blade, they have a tendency of lifting the wood off of the cutting table. When using them, you will have to hold the piece your working on down with a bit more pressure. That is the characteristics of these types of blades, if you run your saw at a lower speed you should n't have as much of an issue. Try cutting with a different style of blade, just to se what happens. Len
  6. Rocky, selling things you make off of boughten patterns, is perfectly legal. What you're not supposed or allowed to do, is to share the patterns with anyone. You are not allowed to sell or give the pattern to anyone, which is quite understandable. As far as selling the items you cut, you can sell as many of them as you want to cut. Len
  7. Dave, that is a tidy bit of work, the inlay work is perfect. Len
  8. It's a very nice gift, the recipients are sure to be pleased, nicely done. Len
  9. Brian, for a beginner, that's some top notch cutting. Len
  10. Nicely done Brian. Len
  11. Nicely done Todd. Len
  12. Christian, can you not just lay a piece of paper over the top of the existing piece and trace it? Len
  13. Rob, I wouldn't scoff at $200.00, that's a pretty good haul for your first outdoor sale. Len
  14. Nicely done. Len
  15. Geez Scott, Harvey really whips these patterns out, is there any subject he hasn't made a pattern for? Len
  16. Marg, what's it like to cut bamboo, is it like cutting any other wood? Len
  17. Dang it Dan, for as good as they look, they're almost to simple to make. Len
  18. Fantastic cuttings Jeff, I would like to know where you got the golfing one pattern? Len
  19. Nicely done Todd. Len
  20. If it's round and I have the drill-bit that size, then I drill it. Len
  21. Tom, if you're anything like me, you don't like other people picking out what you cut. Personally, I like to pick what I cut myself, there's just some subjects that I hate cutting. And if I leave it up to someone else to pick, they are more then likely to pick my most unfavorite subject. Len
  22. Jay, I don't like using regular casters for my equipment, I find that they have a tendency of bending the legs they are attached to. What I like to use, is a system that has a frame that the legs of the equipment sit into. The framework has wheels on it, the two front ones collapse to lower the equipment to sit flat on the floor. When you want to move the equipment, you just step on the front levers to raise the machine. Once the levers are set in the raised position, it is very easy to move the equipment. This type of system usually cost around twenty-five dollars, sometimes it goes on ale for around twenty dollars. Len
  23. I usually use Watco's Danish oil or their boiled linseed oil (BLO), both do a good job and look nice when applied. Len
  24. Ed, that looks great, it would be a perfect candidate for stack cutting. I'll have to look into ordering that pattern, I agree, it should be a good seller. Len
  25. Thanks Jim, cute chairs. Len
