  1. Well this was suppose to be just a puzzle. I made sure my blade was strait when I started.but when I finished some pieces only fit in from the back and some others, only fit from the front.some pieces go all the way through. So instead of putting it into the scrap pile I glues the base on this piece of oak and shellaced it with several coats. Some one might come along and adopt it or it might end up in the scrap pile.
  2. You did great it looks very nice. I found out a long time ago people really like the home made items. Cause it is made with care and love. There is no other one in the world like it. There are is a nice little accessory saw that you can buy that is not very expensive. And it will give you a true 45° angle. So if you are going to make more of these or portraits you might consider buying one. Good day
  3. I did a Google search. It looks a lot like a dremel saw. I personally could not deal withe the arm not going up and not being able to feed my blade through the top. But every one is different I hope you enjoy your new saw. Hopefully your friend gets hooked on it so you will have a partner in crime. Congratulations on your new saw.
  4. Never heard of that saw. Is there any videos on this saw? Sounds very interesting.
  5. I smoked it a lot still working and looking great the whitNess paint has turned a little yellowish from the heat but still looks great.
  6. Do you use the inflatable sanding ball with these? Or Do HF have their own brand? Thanks
  7. If you have a smart phone: Download 'photo bucket ' once you down load it go in and make folders like family , woodworking. Then when you want to share some individual pictures or a whole album example you built a whole shop and you had 55 pictures it would be easier to share the whole album.once yo have pictures in there you can share a picture when you click on the 'direct link' it will copy it and when you post it you can paste it or you can click on the little chain link icon and add the link. I only have a smart phone and don't have a computer any more. One you share a photo from photo bucket it auto, siz.es it piece of cake. Plus it will save all your picture for ever. You can do a auto up load of pictures if you like but I found that to be a real pain. Cause it up,loaded every picture. Than means picture of labels or parts of a dryer that when you go to the box store you can reference the part. So I always do the manual upload my self. If you phone ever crashes and you have irreplaceable photos you will wish you had photo buckt. (Yep personal experience ) LOL
  8. Just curious how many of you have this? It is a lot of money to drop. I want to start making bowls and think it is a must.I have the flex shaft for my Dremel. But would I be able to use this inflatable ball in my Dremel? Any advise is much appreciated.http://www.woodworkingshop.com/product/kx11340/#.Vjt5bcvTnqA
  9. Well to tell the truth I actually don't like this cross so dark it is 1 inch thick and cast a lot of Shadows I hung this up on the wall the dark hides a lot of of the detail. I going to take a picture with other one not stained. Thank you all for the nice comments
  10. Just got done 1 of 2. The sister N law and wife both want one.
  11. My self I don't clean every time my blade is changed out. But when I get may project cut out.I clean up really good for my next project.

  13. Hello All, Hey I was youtubing and got sucked into the Vortex LOL. Don't ask me where I took a wrong turn. I ended up watching model car building and remembering them there good old days of being a kid putting model cars together. (I am 50 now) I guess some of think I am still a kid LOL. Any how I went to the RC (remote control) car store a hobby store strictly for model building (trains, plastic car and trucks and ships.and along with RC cars) as I was looking at the models and paints I ran across some great stuff. The have really thin wood and light and small brass tubing (wind chimes) also they had all the small bits that us scrolled use and they sell a lot of cool stuff to. So if you have a hobby shop in the area check them out. I was doing some price comparison with the models and paints with Michaels. Have a great day and weekend.
  14. I think you could always just post it on the general topic and ask for suggestions.
  15. I smoked cigars for a long time.the brother sent me about 5 pipes and a lot of tobacco. At first I did not care all the effort to keep the pipe lit... tamping... and the maintaining them. But I have come around to enjoy it.
  16. Hello, I smoke a pipe and if there are any pipe smokers out there you will connect with this. I saw a post on a pipe smoking forum about painting/staining a corn cob pipe. So I just had to try it. I made my brother this one. And going to send it off to him. He got 40 some odd pipes in his collection but I am quit certain he ain't got one like this. And it made me get out my airbrush kit and play with it.any ways I am not sure what will happen if he smokes it and it gets warm. Iam going to make me one with the Kansas City Chiefs on it. If there are any pipe smokers out there that would be interested knowing the out come on it ask me later about it.
  17. Even withe the Florent light I still have to use a bright light. I use one of those $30 LED flood light. I have one of those cheap aluminum heat lamp shields and put that LED light I have wire pulling up one side to get the angle I need.
  18. Huh? Travis you sell patterns? I did a Google search and found your blog ( which I signed up for ) so could I have a link to your patterns? Thanks
  19. Yep Lucky2 is right but if you pay money to a lawyer and get a trade mark. Would you ever make your money back? Just a thought. I think you would be just getting a site like Steve good and having people pay for a download of a pattern. Or have a rubber stamp made with your trade mark and only sell to online stores like wooden teddy bear. Stamp on each pattern that you send out. Maybe you could contact the scrollsawer mag and sell them to them and have them Published. That would be the cheapest way to sell I would think without collecting a bunch of legal fees. Good luck.
  20. Steve Good sells his patterns and pattern book
