    I used the clear contact brand from WW and no problem, did have it lift one time on me, but now I roll it after applying to bond better Bill

    HI all I finally got my old paintshop pro 9 working on my laptop so I can scan patterns, resize and print them the way I want!!!!! I skipped the patch, I only use the program for scrollsaw patterns. Bill

    HI there Looks like you are off to a great start. Go to this website and look for the practice patterns. They are free and download that and make copies and follow instructions on first page.     I went to shelf liner also. I do a lot of smaller pieces for ornaments, I just turn the shelf paper over, lay my wood on it and cut around the wood with an exacto and then peel off and stick on wood. Spray pattern with super 77 and put it on the wood. Comes off so much eaiser for intricate things Bill

    I just bought a roll of clear contact paper at Walmart the other day and I tried it with a pattern and its way easier to use than tape. I turn it over and it shows a grid and I lay my rectagular or square pattern board on it and cut it off with an xacto knife, peel off the backing and stick it on and roll with a rubber roller, supper 77 spray my pattern and stick it on. I notice I don't get the tape buildup mixed with sawdust when I saw, much easier to see where I am. Bill

    Hi all, Christmas is all about thankfulness, and I am a regular on here every day, even if it's just to see what is new. Everyone who posts here is doing something thankful to help all us others out. Maybe I don't use everything I find, but often have tried various things. I have been scrolling for over 30 years and there is always something new or new tip that pops up on the site.     Hi I am looking for a fine pen or marker than won't bleed on baltic birch ply to mark my ornaments when I give them to people. My duaghter has a nice american crafts precision pen but I have no where to buy them where I live. Suggesions for a type at Walmart, we have one here. Thanks Bill

    Hi gang I thought about being able to make some small signs to give as gifts and I was wondering can I just create them with msword using different fonts. So would I just make a text box the size I want and then pick my font and go for it. Say I wanted a square sign about 4" x 4" , can you create a text box that size and pick fonts to go in it then and resize your fonts to match. I also have gimp on my computer too. Thanks Bill.

    HI all, After many years of my hegner 18vs I decided to do some maintenance on it. The quick release rollers are not moving any more when I push and pull the handle back and forth so I ordered some new ones of them. I did some general cleaning of my saw, old oily grit etc. I am also replacing the flywheel bar on the flywheel that sets my stroke pattern. Anyone with a hegner here, what type of oil to use is best for the top arm to use on the joints? I have been using the type of oil I put in my nailgun. I also sent an email off to Advanced Machinery for their opinion on where to set the flywheel bar, on long or short stroke. I have had it on short stroke for a long time, but someone on the SSWC forum said I should use the long stroke I would get better blade life. A couple of days and I will be up and running again. nrscroller

    Hi Gang Yeah i know it has been discussed millions of times here I am sure. I need some advice, I wear hearing aids and even if I turn them off, my 6 gallon shop vac is loud. I have it hooked to a dust deputy but haven't used it with my scroll saw yet. I mainly use it for my sanding table and general shop cleanup. I have an airbrush compressor running on my saw, so it blows it away but am thinking of getting something better. I thought a wall mount dust collector like theyhave at rocklers, and also a fein turbo 1 vac that is supposed to be quiet. Ideas......willl the dust collecter catch the fine dust from my scrollsaw?     Hi everyone, After scrolling for many years making nice ornaments for my wife and friends, I decided to do something different in between doing other things. I like snowflakes so I am starting a snowflake collection and making them about 4 x4 inches out of 1/8 inch bb plywood. I am placing each one in a photo sleeve in an album so I can share them with people at our local library or senior center. I have 2 done now, and hope for a goal of 100 different ones by January. I am currently making 6 sided ones. Should be fun. They are basically taking about 1/2 hr each to cut out and sand. When I get more done, I will post photos. Bill

    HI I bought a dremel drill press a long time ago. I drill bigger holes on my drill press and thave the dremel set up with the size hole bit I need. I have been doin it this way for years. Bill

    HI gang I have noticed after I set blade tension on my hegner 18vs it seems to loosen up some as I take blade out and change holes in a pattern. I sent advanced machinery an email about it but I thought maybe somebody on here had the same problem and best fix for it. It is an older saw so maybe replacing that whole part might fix it or the spring is getting week. Thanks Bill

    Hi I use the pegas 2/0 for my scrolling of 1/8 bb plywood and really like them. I never cut thick stuff so that is all I use of their brand. nrscroller

    HI I have a hegner VS18 and have owned it for over 10 years and I love it. I mostly make smaller ornaments and things. It always cuts right on, I like the smaller table for the size things I am doing. I bought mine used off Craigslist and drove 3 hours to get it. I paid about half what a new one was at that time, it had very little hours on it. The only thing I have noticed that my tension knob that is on the back end of saw seems to loosen up now and then. I mostly cut 1/8 in bb plywood and now I use the great Pegas 2/0 blades. I did unhook the bellows and am blowing my air with an airbrush compressor hooked up to my foot switch and I get lots better sawdust cleanning around blade area. Keep your eyes out for a nice one on Craigslist. Make sure you get variable speed and the quick blade release. Good Luck, Bill

    I bought the rockler one and I did not care for it on the saw, very stiff to move around etc. The led worked fine. I bought an Ott magnifier lamp to replace it and it stays put where you put it. Bill

    HI all I cannot get paint.net to find my samsung xpress laser printer with the scanner so I can't use that. Paint in windows 7 won't find my scanner either. I like gimp but it won't save in jpeg format. Anysuggestions for a simple paint program where I can scan a pattern and save in jpeg so then I can open word and put depending on the size of them a couple on one sheet of paper to save on paper when doing smaller things.
