Hi John. This question comes up frequently so you'll hear the best of what works from each of us. I always use wood glue if the backer is wood or some form of a wood product. If the project if framed I just spread a few drops of glue very thin to the project, just enough to hold it in place. No need for more than that. For larger, unframed projects I do the same thing only add a few extra drops in critical places. I uses weights or clamps to hold the backer in place until the glue dries. With practice you'll figure out what the right amount of glue is. I go very light with it. Never had an issue. I did this owl in 2013. It's about 3' tall and 1' wide, with picture matting material, glued with Titebond II. It's still hanging today.

If you are not partial to Micro-Mark or Proxxon, DeWalt has a 2 gallon wet/dry vac that would fit under the scroll saw nicely, that is if your saw is on a stand. I don't really know any more about it but Lowe's sells it.

Also, most smaller saws have smaller tables. You could lack support for your work piece.

Hi David. Your 14" saw should be able to handle about 28" measured corner to corner. You may have to use a few additional blade entry holes to finish some cuts. If you use spiral blades you should be able to cut 28" with no troubles.

Well ome to The Village. I've cut several of charles' patterns and used a flat blade for 95% of the cuts. I only use spirals for the parts that I can't get to with flat blades.

I actually think this is a legitimate complaint and I believe Delta will address it. Hopefully sooner than later. As for why people keep buying them, if you look at the reviews online, most have 4.0 to 4.5 stars. Home Depot 4.5, Lowes 4.2 - 4.2, Menards 4.5, Wood Magazine 4.0. One site suggests it is a good saw for the price even though they address the issue of the knocking. I don't knock people for buying it (as it appears to be an easy fix) but I do think they should provide negative feedback as most companies will review these. If they continue to get 3, 4, and 5 stars, the company will continue to sell them as is.

I've made a lot of refrigerator magnets from scrap wood. You could cut numbers and letters for kids to play with or seasonal designs like snowflakes, cars, sports themes, etc. I use neodymium magnets recessed into the wood. My grandkids liked to used the magnets on the table with one under the table and kind of drive them around. I even made a track on the table for them to navigate through. Oh, and Merry Christmas Jes!

Very nice. The bee's honeycomb would make a great trivet.

It is made for metal tables. It dries fast and leaves no residue. Never had an issue.

Looks like it'll work. I used Teflon spray about 5 years ago and it's still pretty slick.
