  1. Somehow, my mom's furnace started making noise. Long story short is the plastic fan blades had broke causing vibration. It was Saturday and the local part store was closed. It was a $35 part. Mom wanted it fixed that day and ended up costing $280. I cringed!
  2. Cuts nice and looks nice.
  3. Nice!
  4. Sweet!
  5. From what you described, if nothing looks or smells burnt, it is most likely the chip. If you can get the number off the chip you can probably pick one up (or order online) for less than $10. I can point you to some reliable sources if you choose to try to repair the board. I would still call the company first as Ray suggested.
  6. I agree that pine is fine.
  7. Not many components on the board. Can't you fix it?
  8. If those blades came with the saw they are probably low quality blades. I wouldn't worry too much about what # they would be as the numbering system isn't really standardized. A #2 blade from one company may have a slightly different kerf and thickness than another company. If the blades work for you and you're happy with them, by all means use them. When ordering new blades try different brands in various sizes and teeth configurations to see how they work for you. We all have favorite blades, but we all don't agree on what we think is best. It's a personal choice.
  9. I have just moved the dot to slightly overlap the i.
  10. Excellent craftsmanship!
  11. Great job! The compound cuts are very clean.

Most box elder have the red flames in them. They are mostly trash trees but the wood has great contrast and color. Also, Eastern red cedar can vary in color quite a bit.
  13. Nice work on the squirrel. I can box up 10 more to send your way for you to feed. As the sign says, I I'll shut up, but don't expect the kiss.
  14. You should be able to stain then glue. The stain, once dried according to directions, shouldn't affect the gluing. Any finish should be applied after gluing.

Also known as scroller's crack. I can't stop making these. Fun, easy, and quick. I'm tired of painting birds so now they are cut from various hardwoods.
  18. Also check your local library. Ours has about a dozen books on scroll sawing.
  19. Welcome to The Village!
  20. Fretwork is generally cutting pieces out of wood to create an ornamental design. If you search the internet for fretwork there are some terrific photos to give you a better idea. Fretwork can adorn furniture, buildings, or be a stand-alone piece of art. Hope this helps. And welcome you The Village!
  21. A sanding sealer is not the same as a wood conditioner. Whereas a wood conditioner is a pre-stain treatment that reduces blotchiness when staining, a sanding sealer is applied only to bare wood that is not going to be stained. That is per the makers of Minwax.
  22. Great cutting. Awesome and very detailed pattern.
  23. Welcome to The Village! All I have to say is be careful... this is a very addictive hobby. Enjoy.
  24. Beautiful!
