After a minor (for me a major) adjustment to my saw table, I was able to crank these out in the past week. I sure hope these are sellers as I really enjoy making them. All are made from poplar, run through the sanding mop, and finished in BLO/mineral spirits.

Mount it to a heavy stand or bench. Rubber mat between the saw and stand will absorb additional vibration. If there is an issue with the saw then I'd say take it back to the store. If you can't take it back, take your time to see if you can overcome the issue. There are a lot of folks here who have the wisdom to help.

I have also. It can be a little challenging at first, but once you get it it's goes much faster. If you have a band saw you can make some jigs to give you consistency. Gary MacKay (sp?) has a few books on box making and has some great ideas.

Well, those look great! It's neat how a little change in the background can make the artwork jump right out. Are these all segmentation?

Well, I know that the old Delta P-20 was made to cut a little aggressive and that the blade is tilted so the top cuts into the wood before the bottom. When I started doing puzzles in 3/4" stock sometimes the pieces fit too tight. I knew this would be a problem as whenever I make a tight turn the top of the wood makes a bigger turn than the bottom. To overcome this, I had to shim the back of the table about 2o up to give the blade a 90o angle to the table front to back. WOW...what a difference. I did some test cuts then cut some puzzle pieces and they slide perfectly in place from the front and back side. It sure makes cutting these things a lot easier.

I had a variable speed Craftsman do just that and it was a combination of the motor blowing the motor control board. After the burial and ceremony I felt better and bought a Delta.

I agree with Scott and Dan. As you cut you will find it easier to freehand cut the pieces. Many puzzlemakers will cut figurals based on the shapes of some images. If you search these scroll saw sites you will see some amazing puzzles. If you are just getting started, glue a Christmas card to a piece of 1/4" BB ply and cuts some pieces freehand. Then do some more following and outline of a shape on the card and add the tabs of the puzzle piece. It gets fun.Enjoy.

I would use 1/4" Baltic birch plywood. I would also make the pieces larger, between 1/2" and 3/4". That would only give you about 50 pieces or so, but the sizes would be much easier to handle.

What size are the sheets? Are you storing them in a basement or garage? How much do you plan to store? My suggestion is...get to work making more projects!
