  1. Don, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these books. If you plan to make puzzles for selling the books can have valuable information. Some pattern books I've bought were useful, others I flipped through and put away. I may go back to them some day. If in doubt, check you local library. Sometimes they have scroll saw books that may help you decide what books you want to buy.
  2. Great tip. Thanks for sharing.
  3. The box is excellent! What a fantastic gift.
  4. Very nice.
  5. The lights and key chains are wonderful. Excellent work!
  6. Jim, you are right on sanding to make plexiglass frosted. I had a birdhouse with a plexiglass roof. During the winter the sun would reflect off it and drive us crazy. I took 220 grit to it and it looks great and no more reflections. As for other works, I have done some. I used FDUR#3 blades. At first it melted, but I put a layer of packing tape over the pattern and stacked 3 or 4 1/8" pieces with no melting at all. I like to soften the edges and have sanded them. You can also use a torch and do a quick pass over the edges to soften them. By soften I mean make them smoother. Sorry, no pics.
  7. Although I haven't tried it, some folks use BB plywood. I could see using 1/2" but 3/4" may be a little tougher. I may try some this weekend.
  8. Your right Dan, those young ones are great at figuring things out. If they can't help, let me know and we can figure out. Enjoy your Christmas and New Year.
  9. Thanks to all who donated. I now have a nice supply of patterns for next year.
  10. Well Dan, you're 2 hours away. Hmmm...maybe my wife will let me take a field trip after the holidays. If you don't have it figured out by then I think I could help.
  11. Great job on the shelf and great video. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Those came out great. You sure have been busy.
  13. Nice work! I got hooked after my first ones.
  14. Excellent work Dave! They are all so clean and tidy.
  15. I agree with Ike. You can cut the veining whatever size you want. To me, thin veins in these puzzles don't show up that well. I also have been using a #5. If you prefer the thinner veins, just drill the proper size hole for the blade you want to use. Remember, these patterns are just a guide.
  16. Dan, I believe Travis has a written tutorial for that also. When I started using Inkscape I had found it helpful to reference the written document as I tended to forget a step somewhere.
  17. There's still 2 weeks to submit your entries. I've only received a few so far but hoping to get more soon.
  18. Very nice. I love the subject.
  19. They look super! The stain really sets off the grain.
  20. Jim, are ask if it is possible or asking for someone to make a pattern? If you need a pattern you should post in the Pattern Request section. I think that would make an excellent pattern. I can't wait to see what people come up with.
  21. Here's an idea to get you started. My DIL and son put this together. Maybe someone can design a the with apples or something. (If I made one the tree would be full of nuts.)
  22. My father-in-law has a Rhodesian Ridgeback. I think I'll just put the dogs name instead of the breed.
  23. I don't cut that thick but FD HD blades are designed for thick, very hard wood. I would think that may be your best choice. I'd be willing to bet Olson also have a blade for your need.
  24. Nice!

Neat idea! If you need a product tester please send my way, with a few bottles to test it on.
