  1. Martin, Walmart has 12" x 12" felt squares for 20 cents each in various colors. Here's my thought on the felt, if you are framing the portrait behind glass, felt looks great. If it will not be behind glass, the felt will collect dust. Now sure how hard it is to get the dust out, but a painted backer may be easier to clean.

Very nice! The contrasting colors make the scene really stand out.
  4. Nicely done! I think cherry is one of my favorite wood.
  5. Nicely done. I did that one for my niece several years ago.
  6. I think you did a nice job on the pattern and cutting. I agree with Mick on the grain, though.
  7. Some more great work. You must be having a Halloween party at your house. What time do you want me there?
  8. Nicely done Marshall! They are so clean and simple and still look elegant.
  9. Excellent job! I can see that a lot of work went into it.
  10. That is cool. Great cutting.

I added the pattern to the Pattern Library. I don't know how to put it in the Military folder so if someone could let me in on the secret I'd appreciate it. Right now it's in my pattern gallery and in new patterns. Thanks.

I made the pattern for this several months ago and finally got around to cutting it. I didn't know what word to put in there, but thought of one that seems to fit a Marine. My son was the inspiration for it. Thanks for looking.
  13. Nice work Bill. I like the clock. John Nelson does some great designs.
  14. Thanks for the correction Helen. LOL I guess I had dessert on my mind.

Great job Marg! I've seen the pattern but haven't cut it yet. You did a terrific job.

  19. Great job Bill! I like these saws. I did the one with the deer. The contrasting handle of the wolves make it really stand out.
  20. This is one from Gary Brownings book of Civil War portraits. Pretty easy to cut. It's 1/8" BB ply. Got the frame from a thrift store. I was going to leave it rough and a little worn, but looking at the photo of it, I think I'll refinish it. Thanks for looking.
  21. Welcome to the Village Greg. Looking forward to seeing some of your projects.
  22. Polymer clay is another material that would work well for a necklace. Saw some today with very vivid colors.
  23. That looks great! The grain in the oak really enhances the project. How thick is it? Can you stack and do two at a time?

    2011 Sleds

These are always fun to make and great sellers at shows. I stack cut three at a time and it takes about 2 or so hours to cut, sand, assembly, and finish three of them. I will add a string for a hanger. I plan to customize a few for some folks at work. The main design is from Sheila Landry. I changed the runners to the year. Comments and suggestions always welcome.
