  2. Thank you BRETT and GRAMPA,These portraits allways say do me first rather than what i need to do .But i love watching the picture come alive as i cut away. It's an amazing thing, lol. the fiberboard i think has a fake picture of wood on it and it really fooled me .I thought i was cutting quality wood.
  3. Thanks Jim,i needed that ,Im real curious as to what branch of service this gentelman is in and maybe i could find some felt to match the uniform.Grampa the wood allready had a picture thin photo of wood on it and that's what fooled me as to it being a great looking quality wood ,no stain,it's fiberboard same as the militaryman portrait.Had to use it up to get rid of the fool me wood.Your pattern was easy cut ,thanks.
  4. here's Pauley555"militaryman,took an hour an an half to cut useing 2 blades ,a spiral reverse FD-SP,#3 ,40 t.p.i.-12 rev on fiberboard ,3/16th.Thanks paul for patterning it.Good job!Looks great as tony the tiger says,lol 21" x 17.5"

  7. Thank you so much Paul ,I could'nt have done it with out your expertice!Your one of the best pattern makers here at ssv! You've made alot of dreams come true for me,and brought out the can do in me.SSV has been a large part of my life and holding me together in these trying times. It was a blessing to run across scrolling by pure accident.Thank you all for all you have taught me ,showed me and guided me here at SSV.This is the best club i've ever belonged to.thanks everybody!
  8. Hello Brian,Your very welcome here and there's only a handful of intarsia regulars here.you'll fit right in.Wow ,hand scroll sawing that's got to be something!Surprize ,you are now part of the village! We'd love to see your work and look around ,have fun and meet new scrolling friends.
  9. Hello group! I wanted to add this 5 person portrait to my showings someday. It took exactly 4.25 hours of cutting time to do.I used "[email protected]" spiral blades to cut this exclusivly.FD-SP-rev #3,40 t.p.i.-12 rev.One problem i encounterd was i chose my best looking piece of wood ,and half way through the project i had to use another blade. When i loosend the bottom blade i noticed(felt) an unusualy fine dust. It ends up my best looking wood was fiber board.I;m surprised i could finish and not blow out a piece .I used 4 blades and broke three from carelessness.I believe 2 blades would have done the job had that not happened. Now i need to do a 4 person portrait to complete my collection.I'm not sure what to use as a backgroud ,paper wood, inlay?Steve goods flutter wheel made short work again getting rid of the fuzzys.Thank you Grampa for makeing the pattern.it was a joy to cut.I am so poor and my worst enemy that i never use enough glue to hold down patterns and this one slipped on the girl on the right .I'm not sure if any damage was done as i could'nt down load the original phote from image shack to cross reference to.Haveing the clock plugged into the saw now makes scrolling all that more interesting knowing how long you r cutting time is!Tips and tricks payed off again!Thank you stevie for the privalige to scroll your friends.
  10. Hello pauley555,thats some fancy cutting and balanced too.I know it's slow go with spirals but the benefits are worth it.This portrait stands proud and he'll be the proudest one of all to receive this one of a kind gift to treasure.Good job my friend. How long to cut this project and what blade and how many blades did it take.
  11. Hello Florida Termite, glad to hear from you, welcome aboard!I had the opportunity to get an old dunlap cast iron scroll saw too.i never set it up as we had no room in the effiency we were in for a year. They were workhorses for many a year and well built. You should enjoy yours too.mine leaked oil somewhere where the bottom blade holder was. This is a very powerfull machine you have with a 1/2 hp.motor.the belt drive should lessen the vibration we all are experienceing. The spring loaded top blade holder is an interesting idea.Wish i could have at least try mine .I also payed $50.00 for it.keep us posted on your progress with this machine. I'm sure you make me wish i had it back. i donated it to the chuch yard sale.
  12. Hey JIM,You are one multi talented person!.you don't dabble you dive in and get it done. These keychains are great.for your shows there's too many names to stock up on so maybe nameslike ,ROME,Bulldogs,Mom,generic stuff ,georgia, chevy, ford something everybody could use.I looked at your site and was impressed at watching you wood burn a project in 10 minutes. You are fast as lightning! The set up for sales you had looked inviteing .what a variety you had and bagged up too!you are the man!
  13. Hello tugbtr1, I too tryed the hammar trick but was very happy to retwist the blade straight on the ends with two plyers.hope this helps. :)you have to lube the connecting arm on the 1830 by takeing off the side cover or quick and simple drill; a hole and fog some lube in where the link is.Mine only lasted a year till i found out where the squeek was comeing from.Had i known then i could have run alot longer.Only the top arm is the one to wear out on every scroll saw i ever had.No lube points to lube, shame on them.
  14. Hey Jim , when i seen the thumb nail of the bear lamp ,not knowing what it was till i enlarged it ,i smiled and said ,look at this guy what did he conjure up this time!Sure enough you blew my mind with another whimsical idea. This is to much.I love it. I'm going to give you a blue ribbon on this one.You are a thinker ,i'm telling you.!What a great idea.Your idea's and work never ceace to amaze me.Angels wings must surround you and guide your hands and mind to product these gotta have projects. I'd like to see a line of these come out and let us know how fast they sell at the shows your at.Keep a large picture of each so when their sold out at least you still get orders for more with none to display.Great job my friend
  15. Back at ya!The noise is ok, and very quiet on both machines.Vibrations on any machine less than $500.00 is going to be there.Look at "Grizzley tool.com and they have a credit up to $500.00 for you to get started.Their dw788 should satisfy you greatly till you can up grade to the thousand dollar saws.I'm happy just scrolling so give me what ever and i'll make modifications to make a better mouse trap out of it .Makes me feel proud to use something i made better.hope this helps. I'd get the dw788 from them on credit but now is not a good time and there's no way i could pay time payments to them.
  16. Hello scrollergirl,Welcome. I'd love to see some pictures from a craft show and especially yours.I'm trying to get in a show but $75.00 is out of reach.Another thing about craft shows is maybe there is craft show police to see if your products comply to codes of non toxic paints, stains chokeing pieces, etc just like big manufacturing companys go through
  17. Hi Mal, the delta your showing us is a model ss250.That was my first saw and i wore it out in a year.It had vibrations above half speed bad.I would go with the dremil myself as i had 2 solid years use on mine. The connecting link that connects the top and bottom arms in the back has no lubrication points. When you hear a irriatable squeeking noise ,that 's where it's comeing from.On my second dremil i drilled two holes to where i can spray a lubricant into and on the pivot points of the connecting link.I also could'nt keep extra saw blades in the spare blade drawer on the machine as they vibrated out with the drawer closed. If you try to use spiral blades on the dremil i would buy the flat end ones as i could never get the twisted ones to hold in the blade chuck. The dremil is a beautyful machine, with lots of creature comforts ,wide large work area,up front controls,up front blade tightining ,up front seeable on off switch. My switch quit working and i took it apart and cleaned out the saw dust and made a drain hole so that problem would stop happening.Hope this helps.
  18. i believe i've had two of them model #1830. :)how can i help?
  19. good morning Mal! I personally can not live with allen wrench blade tightening tools.I've modified my old craftsman c-arm to accept a delta "quick change" blade tightening set up.Very little modification was needed to get it to fit and basically all i had to do was.Remove the old blade holder (top) drill out the hole on the quick set larger, belt sand the sides of the quick set and put all together again.Makes life enjoyable now as i'm constantly threading the blade into and out of pilot holes on fret work.If there's a problem with the blades being to long now ,as every machine is differant snip of what is to long before hand on all the blades you plan on using.there's allways a way of makeing a better mouse trap. This works out excellant for me,quik and simple.Low price saw are plagued with vibration, but a nice tight blade rids some of it.there are many solutions for vibration but a book is nessecary to explain all.A 2010 saw is the easyest,! lol thanks for asking ,some one else will be by shortly.there was a company that had mod's but no more.
  20. Hello Marco! Your work is very refined .I thoughally enjoyed the hockey players ,so life like.Very differant style i can appreciate highly.Das es goot! :)vas es slowce mine heir! Hope to see more of you and your work here at ssv.Welcome.
  21. That a sharp hide away for our featherd friends. You did an exceptionally detailed job on this giveaway project. Was it designed for a certain type of bird,i know small ones but, finch's?chicken hawks? This ones good enough for the white house!
  22. Thank you chance , i forgot about a analog clock that only runs when the saw is on. i get asked over and over how long did it take .thanks for reminding me.Your really handy to have in ssv from day one! Thanks again!
  23. Chance , i must have missed the boat .I thought you have a 2010 dw788?What state are you in?
