Whoa! I forgot that you tilt the arm instead of the table on the EX. Now I need to save for one.. LOL I make a lot of bowls. Oh well I do pretty well with my DW 788.. Just got done making a table insert for our umbrella table in the patio. The table have a few knicks where the umbrella goes so I made a little insert for protection. fits like a glove! So Mr. Fox was a great help on that as he loaned me his old insert.. Fox is my old scroll saw still waiting to be fixed for a back up saw. The el cheapo served me well for about 6 months and then conked out but I think it is just a tune up issue and new motor brushes and the like. Hope you can get your saw either fixed or replaced. In fact, there is a big magnet in the shop so maybe I can find a small metal bowl and put it on the magnet and that should help. Thanks for the idea... Fay

It very well can leak and you find a mess. That's why I would not put the bottle on it until I'm ready to glue as I don't want to lose that much glue. You can stand it upright and then when ready to start the gluing, then turn it upside down to get the glue down the nozzle but make sure the cap is on tight so it won't leak. Will have to find bottles that have the caps you pull up to open rather than take it off. I think it could still be a handy gadget. The one I saw was a one that hangs on a wall and made close to the same way except with a piece of wood on the bottom to catch any glue dripping. Mine had a stand thing on the back sort of like a picture frame does. Fay

Your welcome. I just planned it out but it stands a little crooked, but that is ok. I use the well bond the most and I refill from a larger bottle too. I have other glues that I use on occasion so will make another one or two for those and the hole can be drill to fit what ever bottle you use. I since decided that I would not put the bottle on it until I start a project or just before I glue it up so it will come out when I need it to. I just refilled this bottle. Going ot modify this idea a while longer. The idea that I saw was one that hangs on the wall but I did not like that concept at all. I want to be able to move it around when I need to instead of looking for that pesky glue bottle... No matter how organized I am, I can't seem to find things in my shop. Even those little drill bits that like to get lost.. Grrr.... Fay

I got this idea from some thing else that I saw. So I made this little gadget on my scroll saw.. It is a glue bottle holder. Ever get tired of shaking the glue down to the nozzle so you can do a glue up. Well this is a sure cure for that. So I made up this little gadget, but used a forsnter bit to drill the hole for the nozzle to fit in. Now the glue is right there in the nozzle of the bottle when you are ready to glue, just remove the cap and glue away!! I took these pictures with my cell phone and the shop is messy now... A foot switch is not hard to get used to. Once you use it a few times , you'll be able to step on with out having to look for it. Mine was around $29 or $30 on Amazon. All you do is plug the cord to the switch into the wall outlet and then the saw cord into the outlet that is on the foot switch and then put the switch near where you either sit or stand. I stand when I scroll so all I have to do is step to one side and the saw is off and I can remove my piece or feed the blade into the fret work or what ever I'm working on. Take care.. Fay

Congrats on the big yellow! I've had mine since mid February and love it. I pretty much use it on a daily basis and some times work it kind of hard to get some thing done, but so far it is a great saw. I like the top feeding and I can change the blades with out having to tilt the table and trying to get that darned clamp on the lower arm. I can do it just by feel. I would get a good foot switch as the sawdust can get into the on/off switch and cause it not to start. The foot switch is a big help too when you need both hands on the wood. I have the light too but it is too heavy for the saw so will use it some where else and I now have 2 small lamps and that works great for me ,, no shadows. Enjoy your saw when you get it. Just be careful getting it out of the box and never lift by the arm. Just attach the table and put in a blade and your off and running. I like all the controls on the front of the saw and no more reaching waaaay to the back to adjust the tension! I don't even mess with the speed knob as it t ends to already be too fast for me. but this is a wonderful saw. I wished I had gotten it a long time ago. Fay

Is this last August issue and where can I find the mag? I'd sure like to make this little guy. I used to love to catch snakes when I was a kid, Even had a terrarium thing in my bedroom with that snake in it. Had to let the snake go tho. Haven't so much as seen a snake in my grown up years unless it was in a zoo. Any way. I think my brother might like this snake. Thanks...Fay

This is a Steve Good project and it is an easy one to make. The was some glue spill out in the fretwork and I got an idea from that. The idea is to try some brightly colored paper or inlace in the fretwork and it is so funny how you can make a mistake and get an idea from it. Enjoy. Fay

Sure,, one can make a doodad like a spoon holder for those little suvenier spoons that you can buy in different states. some thing like that would work. Or make a little box with compartments for hooks and sections for sewing needles. Fay

I just use my hand to lift the arm for top feeding on fret work and that is as cheap as one can get. Great idea on that little thing... Looks great.. Fay

Cut this out on my big yella fella and it turned out pretty good. I wood burned the little flower on the front also. The pattern is one from an old broken up one that I found and I cut this one out from the same idea... It'll be great in my shop or my sewing room in my apartment in Port Angeles, Enjoy Fay

I made this clock that is in a mag and it is a Sue Mey design and is an easy clock to make. The insert fit like a glove so I didn't have to do much of any thing after putting on the finish. It is made of poplar and curly maple. The poplar fretwork turned a little darker than it was before I put on the finish and the curly maple did the same but all in all I'm happy with the clock. I was so surprised the clock insert fit perfectly. I was so sure that it would have too much wiggle room, but it fit like a glove. Going ot try a larger clock in the near future.... Fay

I made this out of poplar and it is a Steve Good project. This is the very first clock of any kind that I have made. Planning to make a few more in the near future too. There is a mantle clock pattern that I saw not too long ago that I want to try. The box I had some trouble getting it to fit together but I did get it going but the glue spill outs that I could not see showed up, but hey! That kind of gives the case an old beat up guitar case look. The clock itself turned out great tho. Had fun making this.... Enjoy Fay

Sell the old ones and use the money for extra blades for the band saw and new drill bits and such for the drill press or some drill press vices..... Congrats on the new stuff. Fay

It's beautiful Dick.. I remember reading that book and it is a good book and a thick one at that. But it was a fun book to read. I too like the way you did the frame. The whole thing is beautiful. Fay

I found a cute guitar clock on Steve Good's site and I've got the guitar cut out and will make a box shaped like a guitar for it but not today. I think I was shaking is because I had not scrolled at that steep of an angle before. Now that I have done it, I think I'm comfortable with it. Well now to look for another thing to make.. Grr...So much I want to do but don't want to run out of wood too soon... Fay
