  1. Very Nicely Done!
  2. Nice work as always... Looks like Keith Fenton patterns?
  3. Thank you!
  4. Thank you JT, I also do my clocks in group batches as so i'm not changing set ups all the time.. I haven't ordered the 2" clocks yet.. and will probably not order them from the factory since I need to buy large quantities to do that.. and I just don't use that many 2" clocks.. I've done a little shopping online and found that I will probably be buying mine from Sloans.. My normal factory direct supplier has better ones with metal cases and the Japanese movements in them.. but I really don't need 250 + clocks in the 2" size.. I've never used a 2" clock before until I did these clocks.. most are the 1-7/16".. Might have to change up my designs though as I do think the 2" would be easier on the eyes to see.. at least for my old eyes they are, LOL Look forward to seeing your clocks.. you always do top notch work..
  5. The saws made in Sommerville was made for about 20 years.. starting in around 1982-3 ish.. so it's a old one.. I was thinking the real early ones was belt drive? and the speed changing was done by changing the belt to different pulleys.. But this one shows a Variable dial on it.. I actually would prefer the belt drive over direct drive.. due to the fact that you could throw a lot of different motors on it if a motor went out.. This looks to not be direct drive.. so I would think a electric motor shop could get one going should you have electrical control problems with it..
  6. Like I said in my reply... It's not a "BAD" deal.. but you could do better IF you wanted to wait it out.. If I was using a old pinned end blade saw and this came up.. I'd probably go take a look at it.. Keep in mind it's a old saw and may have a lot of miles on it... keepin mind that you may need to do some work on it.. Keep in mind that some parts are not available for it.. ( mostly electronics and the arms of the saw are obsolete ) but I think the main wear and tare parts are still available s I think they are still using the same parts on today's saws... but with that all said.. I'd probably at least look at it if it's real close to you.. and make a test cut on it.. Maybe make an offer... OR.. wait it out a week or two.. then make an offer.. most people that sell stuff like this online will price a little high for the haggler type buyers to make their deals.. I'd go look take note of anything worn.. tell them well this & that is worn some and parts are no longer made for these older saws.. He put in his add that they are expensive saws.. but maybe he doesn't know how old it is.. and that parts are NLA.. Explain that to him.. and say the best offer you'd do is $100 - 125.. .. If it's in real nice shape.. maybe offer a little more.. pristine saw.. maybe don't need to haggle the price... Things to look for.. I'm not real sure really on these old saws.. the obvious is to look at table wear to see how much it has been used.. make sure the saw holds good tension on the blade.. run the saw through the speed ranges to see that it functions as it should.. take note of wear on the little tension release lever at the front of the saw.. vibration and noise of coarse.. look for blade wobble while running etc..
  7. I'd pass.. Parts are very limited on those old ones.. There was someone on here that had one of those last year or two and something broke on it.. they ended up having to buy a new saw... Then again... those old saws was built very well.. so.. I guess it's a toss up.. I personally would wait for a newer one.. unless you're in need of a saw very soon.. other wise good deals .. better than that come on time to time.. just have to be patient and have cash when they come.. I bought my EX-21 last fall for 350 and it was still sealed in the box.. My Hawk 226 ultra came brand new in the box for $400.. so like I said... deals come around.. and I think one could do better than that.. unless you just can't wait it out.. I'd let it go.. if you must get it.. shoot them an offer.. Scroll saws are funny sellers.. I've sold my share of them.. and.. unless the person really knows scroll saws... ie many people will look at an old saw and think $200 for that? new at harbor freight they only cost about $100.. but they don't know that the used machine is built to last.. etc.. Believe this is why you see many higher end saws with a larger price tag sit online for a while.. unless they are super cheap deals.. there seems to be a scroll sawer in every town that knows what is what.. but he isn't buying unless its an awesome deal.. like me LOL
  8. Looks like foam board to me... like the thin sheets of insulation. .. doesn't look like it'd be anything I'd use myself.. interesting to learn more about it.. hope someone has some knowledge about it that can share
  9. Thank you! Yes they was designed by Birchbark.. I hope he will be happy to see them put to use, he did an awesome job on them.... I'd like to see more clock type patterns being made.. always looking for new clock designs..
  10. Thank you! I found that in order to sell clocks.. well anything really.. you have to have quite a variety to display.. gotta have one themed for everyone, LOL.. everybody knows somebody that just needs a desk clock of something they are passionate about... whether it's career, sports, or just something they enjoy... Honestly don't think they'd do real well at in person events.. The issue with clocks is. most scroll saw people don't really want to spend the money on the inserts and then not be able to sell them.. They do sell in your area.. well maybe not "your area".. but in your country they do because I've sold about 23 of them to Australia so far this year.. most were car themed and most were the 57 Chevy clock... they must be a hot car over there, LOL..
  11. Thank you! The patterns are by BirchBark and are in the pattern request section..
  12. Hoping you have very little damage if any.. I just cannot imagine what this is like for those that was effected by such a storm..
  13. Those are beautiful.. very nice designs and work is top notch..
  14. I like it.. very well done. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Since I found some new clock patterns last week and had a order for a clock I made about 12 clocks this morning. Only photos of the new ones posted though and these aren’t quite finished yet as I don’t have these sanded and mounted to the bases yet. I need to order some inserts as I don’t have any 2” inserts left. So another reason they aren’t finished. Thought I’d show them anyway so I won’t forget to when I get them finished up. Probably finish on them after my afternoon break lol. All cut from 5/8 Cherry.
  16. I have had a set of those for a long time... well.. not exactly the "blue tooth" ones.. I had bought a set back about 12 years ago when I started up a lawn care business.. ( one of those things I thought I'd like to do but once I started the business.. I didn't like so much after all )... anyway fast forward.. they stopped working about 2 years ago.. thinking it was because my kids left them outside all winter in the cold shed.. so they got me a new pair that is blue tooth.. while I've never used the blue tooth part of it.. I just listen the the radio.. so i can hear whats happening in the world and my favorite songs play some more favorite that others but ... That all said.. I rarely use them in the shop unless I'm running the loud stuff like my planner etc.. otherwise I just have the radio on in the shop... but anyway... they are awsome to listen to while mowing the grass.. I have a large yard.. so mowing is about a 3 hour job.. music makes it go by much faster, LOL.. Oh in case anyone here in the USA is interested.. my wife bought the at Walmart.. believe they was about $40-50..
  17. YEAH!! I have a lot of PHD's ... ( Projects Half Done ) LOL I have some from like 5 years ago that I started but.. got side tracked with an order or this or that.. before you know it it's been years.. LOL.. While I only have a couple that are quite old.. most I finish within a few weeks.. This happens to me a lot because of my business.. (ie yesterday I made a new Christmas ornament pattern.. and couldn't wait to get started on it.. well wouldn't you know as soon as I started cutting it.. an order came in from my website.. which was a Made To Order item.. soooo... I stopped cutting my new ornament design.. and started making the clock that was ordered.. This morning I have the clock cut out along with about 6-8 other clocks.. I like to make clocks in batches so I'm drilling the recessed holes for the inserts all at the same drill press set-up. after I get done with my lunch break.. I'm going back out to drill those holes and then make up a batch of clock bases and then mount the bases to the clocks and then dip in Danish oil... then I'll get back to my ornament cutting... provided no other orders that needs making comes in, LOL
  18. Hey that's great! glad you got it straightened out.. was worried about you burning up the circuit board or motor running it the way is was.. as that erratic speed jumping around like that can burn things up... Don't ask how I know that
  19. Thanks Wayne.. I never ended up with the saw.. just parts to one.. and honestly don't know what model saw the parts go to.. I know they had 3-4 other saws.. brand is kind of unknown.. but suspect the other ones was Hengers too.. The one I know he had was a 14" saw.. Don't know what I'll ever do with the parts I got in the box of misl. stuff.. but if anyone wants it I might mail it out to them for shipping cost.. I'll probably take some pictures of the parts I have in a few days and see if anyone wants them.. Hegner parts don't do a Hawk, EX, and DeWalt owner any good.. LOL Also ended up with a several Olsen blades that I won't use.. so I'll post those too.. They are quite big blades.. thinking like 7 tooth per inch or so. must be like a #12 lol or bigger if they have bigger..
  20. I posted a week or so ago about a estate sale that had a Hegner saw.. I told them if it doesn't sell for more than $75 I would give the $75 for it... go figure.. it went for $80, LOL.. Somehow through all the stuff they gave me boxes of blades and pattern books etc.. I ended up getting a box of Hegner parts.. a few blade clamps and some maybe tension springs?? they are a rod type thing that zig zags back and forth and looking at pictures of Hegners it's at the back of the saw.. whole bag of them.. do they wear out? not really sure what it is.. Then there are some other odds and ends some thumb screws with springs.. thinking they are the knob and spring that goes up at the front upper arm..
  21. I'd be keeping an eye on the area over the next several hours of use.. might wear out the case where that bolt is.. I know several years ago someone posted on one of the message boards about this.. then posted again about a year or so later with a broken case.. a block of wood or something is much cheaper than a new case or saw.. If you've seen the Jim Dandy easy lift attachment and have some mechanical skills.. you could build one yourself for probably $5-10.. while $25 ish isn't bad for just a bolt on one and be done with it for several years.. I've had one on my saw for about 10 years now and wouldn't be without one on a DeWalt..
  22. For the blade alignment.. I'd start with making sure the blade is centered in the blade clamps.. ie the set screw opposite of the thumb screw may need adjusting to get the blade in the center of the clamp.. If it is centered.. maybe loosen the bolts that hold the table to the saw.. and see if you can get it centered and then tighten them back down.. As for the finish on the table... yeah it doesn't last long anyway.. I think mine was wearing off after only about 5-10 hours of use.. Hoping you can get this blade centered to the table though.. Also like to note that.. I doubt this is anything to do with being made in a different country now... I have the older saw that was made before they moved production.. and it was all kinds of messed up straight out of the box.. bolts loose and table out of wack just like yours... I think those that bought there saws from Seyco.. probably never seen this sort of stuff because Ray always tuned the saw prior to sending them out.. My guess is.. they just slap them together on the assembly lines..
  23. Had a request for a 68 Mustang Coupe ornament the other day.. just after I made the clock.. so I shrunk the pattern slightly Blade wanted to wander quite bad after cutting three airplane clocks and 4 other ornaments.. I knew I should of changed it first.. LOL
  24. I think that is just the nature of how plywood works.. I buy it in the 60" x 60" sheets and cut it to size as needed... even though I use the measure once cut twice rule.. or is that measure twice cut once... anyway somehow it still comes up short... just like my wallet
  25. These are just Excalibur saws with the Pegas badge.. however they do come with the Pegas blade chuck upgrade that doesn't come standard on a Excalibur.. think it was Hotshot that posted about the Pegas saw last winter...
