YEAH!! I have a lot of PHD's ... ( Projects Half Done ) LOL I have some from like 5 years ago that I started but.. got side tracked with an order or this or that.. before you know it it's been years.. LOL.. While I only have a couple that are quite old.. most I finish within a few weeks.. This happens to me a lot because of my business.. (ie yesterday I made a new Christmas ornament pattern.. and couldn't wait to get started on it.. well wouldn't you know as soon as I started cutting it.. an order came in from my website.. which was a Made To Order item.. soooo... I stopped cutting my new ornament design.. and started making the clock that was ordered.. This morning I have the clock cut out along with about 6-8 other clocks.. I like to make clocks in batches so I'm drilling the recessed holes for the inserts all at the same drill press set-up. after I get done with my lunch break.. I'm going back out to drill those holes and then make up a batch of clock bases and then mount the bases to the clocks and then dip in Danish oil... then I'll get back to my ornament cutting... provided no other orders that needs making comes in, LOL

Hey that's great! glad you got it straightened out.. was worried about you burning up the circuit board or motor running it the way is was.. as that erratic speed jumping around like that can burn things up... Don't ask how I know that

Thanks Wayne.. I never ended up with the saw.. just parts to one.. and honestly don't know what model saw the parts go to.. I know they had 3-4 other saws.. brand is kind of unknown.. but suspect the other ones was Hengers too.. The one I know he had was a 14" saw.. Don't know what I'll ever do with the parts I got in the box of misl. stuff.. but if anyone wants it I might mail it out to them for shipping cost.. I'll probably take some pictures of the parts I have in a few days and see if anyone wants them.. Hegner parts don't do a Hawk, EX, and DeWalt owner any good.. LOL Also ended up with a several Olsen blades that I won't use.. so I'll post those too.. They are quite big blades.. thinking like 7 tooth per inch or so. must be like a #12 lol or bigger if they have bigger..

I posted a week or so ago about a estate sale that had a Hegner saw.. I told them if it doesn't sell for more than $75 I would give the $75 for it... go figure.. it went for $80, LOL.. Somehow through all the stuff they gave me boxes of blades and pattern books etc.. I ended up getting a box of Hegner parts.. a few blade clamps and some maybe tension springs?? they are a rod type thing that zig zags back and forth and looking at pictures of Hegners it's at the back of the saw.. whole bag of them.. do they wear out? not really sure what it is.. Then there are some other odds and ends some thumb screws with springs.. thinking they are the knob and spring that goes up at the front upper arm..

I'd be keeping an eye on the area over the next several hours of use.. might wear out the case where that bolt is.. I know several years ago someone posted on one of the message boards about this.. then posted again about a year or so later with a broken case.. a block of wood or something is much cheaper than a new case or saw.. If you've seen the Jim Dandy easy lift attachment and have some mechanical skills.. you could build one yourself for probably $5-10.. while $25 ish isn't bad for just a bolt on one and be done with it for several years.. I've had one on my saw for about 10 years now and wouldn't be without one on a DeWalt..

For the blade alignment.. I'd start with making sure the blade is centered in the blade clamps.. ie the set screw opposite of the thumb screw may need adjusting to get the blade in the center of the clamp.. If it is centered.. maybe loosen the bolts that hold the table to the saw.. and see if you can get it centered and then tighten them back down.. As for the finish on the table... yeah it doesn't last long anyway.. I think mine was wearing off after only about 5-10 hours of use.. Hoping you can get this blade centered to the table though.. Also like to note that.. I doubt this is anything to do with being made in a different country now... I have the older saw that was made before they moved production.. and it was all kinds of messed up straight out of the box.. bolts loose and table out of wack just like yours... I think those that bought there saws from Seyco.. probably never seen this sort of stuff because Ray always tuned the saw prior to sending them out.. My guess is.. they just slap them together on the assembly lines..

Had a request for a 68 Mustang Coupe ornament the other day.. just after I made the clock.. so I shrunk the pattern slightly Blade wanted to wander quite bad after cutting three airplane clocks and 4 other ornaments.. I knew I should of changed it first.. LOL

I think that is just the nature of how plywood works.. I buy it in the 60" x 60" sheets and cut it to size as needed... even though I use the measure once cut twice rule.. or is that measure twice cut once... anyway somehow it still comes up short... just like my wallet

These are just Excalibur saws with the Pegas badge.. however they do come with the Pegas blade chuck upgrade that doesn't come standard on a Excalibur.. think it was Hotshot that posted about the Pegas saw last winter...

If you read the last sentence of his post.. he is saying he wants something that he can have a child with disability to glue it together.. such as a wooden model car etc... Don't think a portrait style pattern is what he's looking for.. Quote from his last sentence.. "I'm trying to make this for a lad with learning disabilities and I want to get him to glue it and Finnish it as a treat."

I've got to ask.. are you looking for puzzle patterns or something like a model car type pattern? You mentioned so the lad could glue it together so I don't think we have anything here in the pattern library on this site.. But if puzzle patterns you could buy some patterns from Scott at www.woodcraftbyscott.com Hope I got that right.. believe he has several car / truck and maybe tractor patterns.. Below is a photo of a couple of puzzles I did from him..

Steve Good has a 4x4 truck pattern that is really quite simple to make and really cool once done.. And the good thing is.. the pattern is free.. Check out http://www.stevedgood.com/catalog/index.php Not sure where the link will take you but do a search for truck.. there is a couple toy type patterns there that might suit your needs..

I have to agree with you... The people on this forum are awesome.. and without them.. I wouldn't be the scroller I am now... LOL BTW. Nice work area..

Also a bottom feeder and do only fretwork... But I will say.. I have read about the induction motors not liking fretwork... But.. I'm really doubting anyone really has burned up a motor because of fretwork..

I tried to use my arbor press.. but I didn't have enough room between the bottom and top of the press.. and didn't really want to cut my roll pin punch down just for that job... and couldn't find anything that'd work either

Thank you JT... Yeah I have done the added detail a few times.. and had very good results.. I really cut this thinking it would look great as is.. but once cut.. i think it would have looked better had I added the detail..

Yes, I should have mentioned that I took the arm off... pulling and hammering a pin out with the arm on would be asking for trouble for the arm or bearings as that is a long arm that when pulling or hammering on puts a lot of torque... and as for hammering the pin out... don't need to whale on it just tap on it lightly.

I changed the whole upper tension mechanism on my old 220VS which required removing the pin that holds it on.. but never needed to change the blade clamp itself.. I used a pin punch ( bought a set from Harbor Freight ) and used two blocks of wood to put right close to either side of the pin so I wouldn't be bending the arm or something.. and first soaked it good for a day or so with PB Blaster.. came right out..

So.. I ended up getting the pyrography set from the estate I had talked about the other day... $35 was worth it to me to try.. the cheap soldering iron type ones run about that much.. and this is a pro set.. Doing some research on what exactly I got turns out the company closed up.. not sure when.. But at any rate I found in the bottom of the tools plastic case.. the original receipt from 1989.. so it's older than I though.. It's a Detail Master lll I didn't take a photo of it yet but while researching came across the same thing on ebay so i'll show that one.. I got at least 6-8 pens with it.. had to go play around and found that the thing has heat at the tip about as soon as it comes on.. unlike my old soldering iron style.. Anyway.. happy camper with it... much easier to control etc.. I also found that there are adapter cables to use other brand pens with.. so even though they are no longer in business.. I can still get new pens etc.. Always wanted to try the professional burning tools but too expensive to buy just to try them.. until now .. Oh..
