  1. Thank you for the report.. I really appreciate it. I believe I'll order a set..
  2. Yeah Ray, I was thinking about doing just that if I hadn't gotten any replies.. Just figured someone might have tried the OEM Excalibur thumb screws and knew something about it.. Also just figured someone else may have talked to Pegas before buying them.. $100 is a lot of $$ if you can't get replacement parts for them.. granted they are made better and whatnot but I'm sure someone will wear out either a thumb screw or the tension lever sooner or later... The tension lever looks different than the OEM one so I assume they are special to the Pegas clamp.. also read the thumb screws are also different size.. so also probably a Pegas only part.. The webs sites selling these should list the parts if they are Pegas only parts.. apparently everyone assumed these parts was the same and haven't questioned it.. Maybe they are not different.. I don't know because I haven't bought a set yet.. All the reviews are geared toward the performance of the clamp.. nothing is mentioned about replacement parts for the clamps.. Probably just too new and nobody has needed parts yet..
  3. Thanks for the comments.. Guess I should just take the plunge and buy a set..
  4. Apparently no body knows if the screws are the same or not.. I have a set of these clamps in my shopping cart ready to buy.. My issue is.. I've read the set screw and thumb screws are different from the OEM ones.. I have yet seen the sites that sell these offer any parts for them.. ( Ie Thumb screws and tension levers ect.) NOT about to buy a $100 clamp set that you can't get parts for easily..
  5. Yeah well I found Bear woods to be $90 + shipping.. and the lower cost shipping wasn't all that cheap for something they claim to be light weight .. and with no tracker # is what it said.. being an online seller and dealing with shipping on a daily basis. I wouldn't recommend shipping anything without a tracker.. so that bumps up to the minimum of 10.83 for shipping now I'm over the $100 mark.. SHIPPING METHODS SMALL PACKET USA AIR $5.98 TRACKED PACKET - USA (TRANSIT TIME: 6 DAYS) $10.83 EXPEDITED PARCEL USA (TRANSIT TIME: 4 DAYS) $15.87 UPS STANDARD $14.91 UPS THREE-DAY SELECT® $27.90 UPS WORLDWIDE SAVER® $34.10 UPS WORLDWIDE EXPRESS® $35.63
  6. Those of you that bought the new blade chucks... are the thumb screws etc the same? Specifically the inserts that go into the end of the thumb screw? While looking at the sites that sell these I run across some reviews on the pegas clamp.. one person asked if they sell replacement inserts because they damaged one, they asked if the site sold them as they was different than the OEM ones.. Now I'm not one that is typically a over tightener on those thumb screws etc.. Have all the originals in my DeWalt after a lot of use for 10 years doing production fretwork.. rebuilt the saw a couple times but the clamping system is still what came with my saw.. I just wondered since many of you replace these a lot.. might be worth looking into before a need arises and one assumes they are the same.... Maybe they are the same... I only asked because the review i read made me believe they are different..
  7. Awesome! I think since they are on sale there I might have to place an order... Not before I think about it for a day or so though, LOL
  8. Where are you all getting these clamps from? I was just searching and found some different prices etc..on sale at a site called qtena? Never heard of them before but on sale and with the shipping cost is much cheaper than anywhere else I've seen so far..
  9. You folks keep talking about these clamp... making me really want to try one..
  10. I used the elmers once when I asked my wife to get me a can in fact that was what my last can was.. I found after reading the instructions.. you have to shake it well and apply it heavy and never another issue with it...other than a 20oz can last as long as a 12oz of the 3m77 if that much LOL.. you go through it much faster
  11. My experience is that there are two types of can the 3M 77 come in.. I used to have that problem with the cans I used to buy but the last can I bought was from a craft store ( not sure what one ) but the can label and colors was much different than that of the other cans.. I didn;t even realize it was 3M77 until I was using it one day.. its almost gone now and i'll need to get another can.. I think I want to try the 3M45 that has been talked about in the past.. but if I don't see it.. I'm looking for the red and white can.. not the dark brown /maroon / black can that I always had trouble with. Maybe they just updated the can and labels? either way this last can was the best one I ever had.. It's been a long time since i don't use the spray much.. if the pattern fits on a sheet of paper I just print on the full sheet shipping labels.. peel and stick..
  12. I guess I didn't know they made a replacement upgrade for the DeWalt and Delta saws.. But I know they originally made them for the Excalibur... and I'm wondering if the light weight hype is more geared toward the Excalibur instead? I must say also that I've owned and used a DeWalt for a good 10 years doing production cutting of fretwork type projects.. When I bought the saw new I also ordered extra clamps because everyone was talking about the aluminum stripping out etc etc.. I still have my original clamps on my saw and working flawlessly.. maybe I'm just not over tightening the thumb screw and others are? I've used it enough to need new bearings and a rebuild a few times now.. but the blade clamps are still the originals..
  13. closed group? At the top left of the group it should give the group name.. The one I found and am assuming you are referring to is called " scroll saw & woodworking enthusiast " The group picture is a puzzle? like maybe a tractor puzzle
  14. Hmm.. doing that just gives that warning page
  15. Well what I found wasn't a group.. just a page for scroll saw and woodworking magazine.. but I did find scroll saw and woodworking enthusiast.. ?
  16. Like the magazine's facebook page? They also have a web site forum.. I just typed in the search bar on FB and the only group I seen was the magazine FB group page..
  17. I have had some issues with getting the correct tension too.. I found that sometimes the upper arm doesn't always come down all the way.. I also found that the lever doesn't always lower the upper clamp all the way to the same position every single time.. It takes a learning curve as does any "New To You" saw would.. I have to say.. Hawk made a tension / clamping design about as fool proof as one could get for these saws.. You get the same results every single time on a Hawk... Maybe Hegners too? But the Dewalts and other saws seem to have missed something when designing this portion of the scroll saw in my opinion... Not that its difficult to get proper tension.. especially once you " Learn " the particular saw.. Anyway.. I found that wiggling the cam lever and looking to be sure its at it's lowest position has somewhat resolved my issues with this.. I bottom feed though... so if you are a top feeder then.. I'm not sure.. just make sure the upper clamp is all the way down to the same position every time..
  18. Whats the name of the group? I'm on a lot of them.. but not that one since I can't see it..
  19. They'll likely send you a gift too.. not sure if it's a promotional thing or they just really feel bad about the mistake and hope by sending you a gift ( pen, sticky, notes, etc ) with your card design on it... Part of me thinks they do that so you'll buy more of the gift they offer when you run out or see it in person.. Big business like that... bound to make mistakes.. and they are ready to handle them with a promotional gift.. Maybe they don't do that anymore.. like I said.. was several years ago when I had an issue.. either way.. they well known big business and they didn't get that way by doing crappy work and bad customer service.
  20. I agree with you 100% JT... also... something really annoys me with the FB groups.. I'm on several of the groups.. of those groups there seems to be many others on the same groups.. and some will post a finished product to every group they are on.. which fills up my news feed with page after page of the same posting but to a different group.. I know I could stop following most of the groups but then I miss things that doesn't get posted on "All " of the groups.. Not sure if what i said make sense to you all but.. anyway.. It's a big reason I pretty much un-followed most all the groups... either they are dead ones.. or two or three members posting the same things on several different groups that sort of spams all the others that are members of all those same groups.. This is why I asked the question.. what is a good group to join.. I plan on thinning the ones down that I'm on.. and sticking to just a couple of the more active ones.. and try to eliminate all the clogging of the same postings.. on different groups.
  21. I'll have to look into some of these.. Thanks for sharing the info..
  22. I'm pretty sure they will set you straight... I had an issue several years ago ( don't even remember what the issue was now ) and they sent me a whole new batch..
  23. Do we have a list of facebook groups on here? I see mention a lot of this group and that group on facebook.. I'm on a couple of them but there are many many of them that just aren't active at all.. So I was just wondering what the good groups might be on there..
  24. I use Gimp and or inkscape.. I had a older verson of corel draw.. but that program has way more tools and features we wouldn't need / use for doing patterns.. I like gimp best for doing picture to pattern type patterns.. but for other stuff.. ( word art and other things I like to use inkscape ) both programs are capable of doing both.. I think it's more of what I learned from each program.. Ie I first learned portrait type patterns with gimp so naturally I like it better because I haven't taken the time to "really" learn it on inkscape.. There are a lot of videos right here in the forums on each program and this is where I learned to do patterns years ago.. Steve Good is where I learned corel draw.. but it's expensive software.. I probably could be real good at patterns... but I just cannot get any enjoyment from setting at the computer making patterns when i could just pay someone to make them and spend my time at the saw making sawdust.. so I opt to do just that... then when I need a pattern and I can't get anyone to make one I try doing it myself and I usually can't remember how to do it..
  25. That's what I thought.. which is why I went to their web site and compared... then at the top of their page it says "Total Shop" as one of their brands.. would be a very nice deal for someone.. I sure don't need / want another saw.. Probably be hard to sell because most folks won't buy something they haven't heard of in fear of no parts or service... they'd go pay double or tripple for a DeWalt or Delta etc..
