You don't need to cut the puzzles to make them look like wood.. You can use gimp.. maybe insskape and use the bucket fill tool.. In gimp they have a wood selection and you can fill the pattern in with the wood colors of choice..

I personally feel you're blocking most of the image and most items I cannot tell exactly what it is.. Like thewoodenteddybear shows a very small image of the finished piece.. which I like to see the finished piece and decide if I want to purchase the plans to make the same thing.. Many people ( yes even scroll sawers ) have a hard time picturing what the drawing would actually look like in wood.. all they see is a bunch of lines.. Unless you're very experience sawer and do some design work can many people make out what it is.. Plus your hurting the web sites rank in searches because of the water mark / promotional business card being in the image.. Google and other search engines will throw the site off the searches for poor pictures.. See the link https://www.volusion.com/blog/7-major-google-shopping-image-mistakes/ Besides.. there is enough images of those puzzles all over the internet that one could print and cut their own puzzle right off of a photo if one was to want to steal the design.. Take a look on Etsy.. especially Duke's images.. most of his images are a straight on view.. that most anyone could cut the design out with just a minor tweaking.. Sure it probably wouldn't be exact.. but.. close enough that the average person isn't going to notice the difference.. I know you put in a lot of work doing this.. but I just don't think the effort is going to help you one bit in keeping people from stealing the designs.. and it's sure going to throw your site at the bottom of the list on searches.. I've been selling online since 1997.. and in the beginning.. I did a lot of trial and error.. mostly error.. and it's still a daily challenge to keep good search rankings.. Google indexes pages about every couple weeks.. if they index this page as is.. it'll get thrown out.. then you'll be waiting another couple weeks for them to put you back in.. however in an error violation as this.. you'll start at the bottom of the list and have to work it's way back up.. Hope you don't think I'm being harsh or a know it all.. after all the work you put in.. I'm just telling it from experience and training I've had.. Maybe ask some opinions from others on this.. see if they can tell what the image is.. but the few I seen.. didn't even show 1/3 of the puzzle.. it was a big freaking advertisement in the way..LOL

That's a old one.. Might not be a bad price.. but.. I'd wait it out for a newer model.. They haven't made that 19" saw for a lot of years..

So if I read this correctly.. the Pegas clamp does in fact reduce vibration? .. doesn't look like a huge difference to rush out and buy a new Pegas clamp to replace a good ( new one ) on my new saw.. BUT... the reduced vibration could mean longer saw life etc etc.. I really want to start using my new EX.. but.. I want to hook up a hour meter to a my foot switch first.. I don't know why.. just mainly because I'm always curious about how many hours are on my old DeWalt.. I really want to hook a meter to all my saws to be honest.. Just to collect some data.. not only for the saw but for projects I make too..

I bought a bunch of puzzle patterns and intend to make clocks and ornaments out of them.. I may also make a few puzzles.. but I want to change up my business from a DBA to a LLC before I take the risk of doing the puzzles.. I just feel there is a little more risk going from clocks to puzzles.. and kid type toys etc.. LOL I posted the Rescue dog you passed as a sample cut.. I cut as a clock last year in the bragging section...

Yeah.. I've had them all cut some things out.. my oldest will still do some cutting now and then.. daughters too busy with college.. and my youngest will cut from time to time.. They don't have a lot of interest in it... Yet anyway... much like me when I was their age.. out hanging with friends, cars , trucks and chasing girls, LOL Amazing how much like me they are really.. kind of scary..but maybe they will take over my business when they settle and I retire LOL.. My dad didn't start sawing until he retired and I was like 17 years old.. I didn't get into sawing until I was 36-38 ish I guess..

Not made any more but it's a Hitachi model CW 40.. don't think they was on the market very long? just a few years back around 2007-8? I almost bought one but went with the Dremel 1800 at the time.. as the dremal had the disc sander that I wanted too.. so that was a cheaper smarter route for me..

I buy saws when I find an awesome deal on them... not every saw I find a good deal on but.. LOL I had been using my DeWalt for a few years when it got pretty noisy and was picking up some minor vibration.. this all took place during he busy holiday season.. I took it apart and cleaned up grease etc and added fresh grease while taking note of the numbers on the bearings.. I was able to get through the busy part before replacing worn bearings etc.. Ran the saw for several more years.. and I kept a watch out for a bargain.. that's when I found my first Hawk 220VS for $100.. was said to be barely used... me not knowing anything about Hawks and the way the guy had it set up on uneven floor etc. I did test it but it was shaking rocking etc.. long story short and adding a couple hundred I finally got it running awesome.. Then I found an awesome deal on my Hawk 226 Ultra.. still packaged in the original box $400 couldn't pass that up.. Always wanted to try an Excalibur.. what showed up on Craigslist at a good deal? EX-21 still boxed $360..I only buy saws that I want to try.. Hegner is next on my list..LOL.. So I buy because it's a deal and I want to try that brand / type saw. with the intent to sell if I hate it.. as I get a good enough deal I can at least get my money back.. That said.. I like all the saws.. I most likely will be selling my first Hawk.. That one I'm pretty certain I won't get my dollar value back out of it.. I pretty much rebuilt the whole saw and added upgrades to the air hose and front tension mechanism is upgraded to the new BM style upper clamp etc.. I have about $350 into that saw.. and they seem to only bring 200 -350.. That said as for learning experience about Hawks etc.. and all the projects I've made with it..I've got my money out of it in that aspect.. As busy as my little business has become.. I plan to keep at least 2 good running saws.. at all times.. so 3-4 saws is probably what I will always have Oh, my 5th saw is a old Delta 2 speed saw that my dad bought new.. I don't really use it anymore.. but will always keep it as there is sentimental value with that one..

Well I would take one but my hands are kind of busy with the saws.. If I used my head I probably could saw on all 5, LOL

Yeah I kind of wonder about that.. the last picture is of the supposed 14 and.. it sure looks bigger than a 14 heck the table looks like it's at least the 14" LOL... Maybe it's not the correct photo though.. Maybe I should ask for a picture of the tag.... I'm not really in the market for one though. unless I sell my 220VS .. I have 5 saws.. and I've found it quite hard to cut on all 5 at once.. I can do 4 at once but not 5

Just come across these two Hegners. First few pictures are of a mutimax 18 for $388 and the second one is a 14” but has the tension lever? Didn’t think they put that on the 14” ? Anyway the 14” is $400 If your in Michigan the 18” is in Holland and the 14” is Lansing

Just so you know.. and maybe you don't care.. but google will throw out images that are watermarked or masked like this.. so it's going to hurt you in the term of SEO which will lower your ranking with google... Been there done that Aside from that.. it looks great as long as people will be able to find you

I think this post got off topic.. but while we're at it.. I don't watch ANY sport on TV.. and rarely even watch TV. Only time I will is if we get movies and I even have a hard time getting interested then. Guess TV just isn't my thing... Other than those shows that show car builds like Gas Monkey garage and Diesel Brothers type stuff... oh and the American Pickers.. Like that show Billy the Exterminator show to but haven't seen that on anymore.. anyway.. I don't take control of the remote in my house and maybe at best. watch 2-3 hours of TV a month.. Oh I shouldn't say any sport. I do like watching SOME of the Olympics games.. but don't go out of my way to come in from the shop to watch this stuff..

Same here.. besides... who's got time to sit around and watch sports when there is sawdust to be made..that alone should be a sport

Just so you know.. the 81K you have marked on your pot.. that 8 is actually a B (b).. it's a B1K Pot.. the link I posted is what i used to replace mine.. pretty sure the one you have would be the same as our saws are quit close to the same era.. mine is a 1998 Ultra 226.. anyway like I said the 81K is actually a B1K Like Ray said.. not much difference in them other than shaft sizes and length etc.. The one linked above has a slightly different shaft.. but my dial fit on it and when I tighten the set screw down it works just fine.. just like the old one did..

I haven't ordered FD blades in over a year.. but they used to have a sample pack of the FD-UR that came with 6? blades of each size of the UR blades.. Anyone know do they still offer these sample packs? You'd get a #1, #3 #5 #7 I believe it was 6 of those each size.. same with the other style blades they offer such as the SR ( Scroll Reverse ) and probably the spirals etc.. get the sample packs. not the dozen packs of each size..as that can get expensive.. When Mike was alive and running the business.. he'd send you a couple blades free of charge to try.. if he didn't have the sample packs or if you needed a specific blade to try.. that is how he became the king of blades and why FD blades got so popular..

I like that set up Ray.. not sure but just guessing here.. I'd have upwards of over $ invested in plumbing up 5 saws with this type set up.. unless I could rig it up to be easily removed quicky and adapt to whatever saw I want to sit at for the day.. which is why I had the Seyco Vac in mind.. small out of the way.. Not sure how it is attached to the saw though so maybe it's not as portable as I think it is.. Do like the idea of having the vacuum to clean the whole shop.. but then. I also have a big shop vac.. that has a 10ft hose and a 20ft cord.. I clean from one end to the other of my 24 x 32 shop without having to unplug it.. but I do need to have it roll around the shop to accomplish that..

Had the exact same experience with them on some things I ordered.. which is a big reason as being in business myself.. I will not rely and own just one saw... not only because of Hawk parts being slower to arrive.. not only that.. but this is how most all companies run now days.. they run lean.. ie they don't keep stocked with parts to just sit on the shelves waiting for someone to need one.... No different with me and my business. I make the first clock take pictures.. when the item sells.. I change up my online listing to show it being Made To Order.. and that it may be 14 days before I get it ready to be mailed.. Also, you and I didn't just kick Hawk in the leg by saying that.. because I'm going to say this... How many other brand of scroll saws do you suppose are out there from 10, 20, 30, years ago still offer parts for your old machine... Think about that.. it may have taken month or so to get your parts.. but you got them... Everything I've ordered for my newer Hawk which by the way is still 20 years old... has arrived within just a few days... SO.. don't shy away from buying a Hawk because of them being slow at getting you parts for a 30 year old machine.. If you're in the business like me.. have a NEW saw.. and or.. a few older saws as a back-up.. Now before the Hegner guys pipe up about their parts being quick... That maybe because they haven't changed the design in 30 years so yeah.. that's a no brainer there that they would have parts for a 30 year old saw, LOL

Thank you!! That is what I want to hear.. I've really been considering this.. because it's small.. looks like it could easily be moved should I want to run it on another saw.. small out of the way so not taking up floor space etc etc.. I move my saws around sometimes.. and hard plumbing from my big system just doesn't make a lot of sense to me etc.. I'm leaning toward this system even though I haven't really heard much on them.. but who knows. maybe someone will post a reason why I should use something different than this.. I have a shop vac that I run to clean up the shop with.. and the big system.. on the big mess making machines ...but they don't seem like something I'd want to hook up and unhook when I want to vac. my cars out or other things I use them for..

I know I've seen this topic over and over.. but I don't recall seeing anything about the dust collector deal that Seyco has on their site that looks to be mounted right on the saw... This is my year to do some more in depth dust collection from my saw.. hope to grab more of the dust directly from the saws.. ( my box fan with filter on the back works pretty good for the money / time invested.. but just not doing it as good as I'd like ) and would like something that would be easily transferred from one saw to the next.. and or.. something permanently plumbed to each saw and either a gate valve or just a matter of switching the hose from one saw to the next.. I have the Harbor freight 2hp dust collection system hooked up to the plainer and other big mess making machines.. and could plumb it to the scroll saw corner as well if needed.. but the noise level for a 4-8 hour day of cutting would [probably make me sleep at night till hearing that thing running LOL.. Like the idea behind the Seyco machine.. and how it can be on and off with the saw.. that along with the box fan might take most of the floating dust out of the air.. Also like the idea of the Festool system hooked up like that.. just not sure it's designed to be on / off with a machine.. Thought about a higher end large dust collector.. The one Jet model I was just looking at had 65db - 70.. and the Festool was 62db - 70ish? cannot remember now.. I looked into the Jet because at a local store they was running a CNC router on the showroom floor with the jet dust collector and that thing was quiet compared to my HF model LOL.. Anyway, looking for what your thoughts are on the Seyco..Festool, and just a upgraded big unit.. I do realize this is going to be one of those postings that my festool is better than your box fan type post.. so I headed to the kitchen on this cold snowy day to get my popcorn and looking forward to reading your ideas and suggestions.. Oh yeah.. the lower the cost is.. the better for me.. but would spend upwards of $500 on a set up that will really work... but also have the ability to make my own.. I have a welder and a old furnace blower.. range hood etc.. lets see that homemade stuff too.. I'm open to whatever is going to do a great job..

If I were you, I'd buy their sample packs.. most of the blade manufactures offer packs of samples of different size blades.. When I was wanting to TRY the Pegas brand.. I ordered the ready made sample packs of each style blade style they offered except the spirals as I didn't even know they had spirals at the time.. from reverse tooth - the modified geometry ones.. This way I was able to try each blade style in several different sizes.. to see what works for me best.. It's a little bit of money up front doing this way.. but getting the best working blade for your type of scroll sawing will greatly improve your work and your fun of scroll sawing. I do this because the different styles and brands are that much different.. ie where I used to use a FD - UR #5 blade.. in the Pegas I can cut with the #3 MFGY blade.. Also when I drill the smaller holes for fine detail work.. the number 5 blade from Pegas won't fit in the hole as the #5 FD-UR will.. so the numbering system isn't really the same through all of the blade brands and styles.. #5 blade on 5/16 BB is pretty aggressive especially on the DeWalt and for someone just starting out.. bet you had a hard time in the tight turns with a blade like that one.. as you mentioned in my video how I do the tight corners with ease..
