  1. I would always go for the larger one. The room is there is you need it, and I could almost guarantee that if you get the 16" you'll find you need it!
  2. No Problem Linda, PM me with your address and I'll get a copy in the mail to ya. Sending it to the UK mighty take a bit.
  3. The stick is for little hands to hold as they fly them around the house. didn't make a a pattern, just sketched it out and made templates. Hang in there a bit cause I can trace out the bits on paper and send 'em to ya if you'd like.
  4. Thanks folks. Just got home from the craft fair. Results were fair. What was funny is kids knew what the sticks attached to the planes were for. The adults? not so much!
  5. Good looking display, hope you do real well!
  6. The Reindeer is Sheila Landry's, the Santas are from Scrollsaw Woodworking & Crafts and the planes are my own design. ATTENTION: for those that asked I managed to get the pattern converted to a pdf. If anyone would like them, PM me an email and I'll send it off to you.
  7. Thanks for the kind words folks. Lin and I are constantly tweaking the setup, trying not to crowd the tables. We found the table covers onlline for $19 each. They hang all the way to the ground on all sides of a standard 6' folding table. They're polyester so when we get home we just toss them in the washer, no wrinkles!!
  8. This past weekend was the 2 day Harvest Festival at Davis Ranch east of Sacramento. It started off a little slow Saturday, opened at 9 and we didn't have our first sale until a little after 11am. Business was slow but steady so by the time it closed at 5pm we were sitting at 50% of the sales from last year so we weren't worried until we heard the weather forecast for Sunday. 20mph winds plus gusts to 30mph. We were under cover and had folks around us so the wind was a minimal hazard for us. A couple of vendors had major wind damage which was sad to see. Business was modest till around noon, then we got busy and stayed that way for a good 3 hours. By the time we closed up our booth we tallied up and we were a full third over last years sales! YEE HAW!! This faire paid for our booth at the upcoming Dickens Faire in Old Elk Grove the Saturday after Thanks giving. In one day 9-4 last year we did about $900! Looking forward to it this year. We'll have several new items, as well as some that sold well last year.
  9. I missed a bit of bum on the one on the left and an overall suspender on the one on the right. have since corrected both. It was a like a typo you never see until after you post.
  10. Thanks to a couple folks here in the village I was able to knock out a couple Minions. Love those little guys!!
  11. Good Job! I need to make something like that for the wife's desk at work.
  12. That's what we did Marg. Then a lady came by last night and bought the set. I'm glad we had already started a second set so we'll have one for the big 2 day craft fair coming along in 10 days!!
  13. I use the hot melt to attach decorative bits to finished work, such as the ribbons and bows on the reindeer I just finished. That's pretty much it.
  14. I can picture it exactly, thanks, Sometimes the spot I'm working in is tiny, so that technique might not work, but will give it a shot. Thanks.
  15. Thanks for the info, I'll check it out.
  16. I wondered if the low setting might have something to do with it. I'll have to remember to try the high setting next time. Ike, I hear ya, but every once in a while I come across an application where it is useful.
  17. After the cutting and the sanding-sanding-sanding and finishing I have on occasion used hot melt glue as part of the assembly method. One of the main reasons I don't use it more often is because I find dealing with the threads that come off the tip of the glue gun a real pain in the kiester. Is there something I could do, or stop doing, or do differently that might help minimize these little suckers? I use a Cold Heat battery glue gun. It has two settings, low and high. I usually use the low setting as the battery lasts longer.
  18. Thanks folks. Kevin you hit it, that's what I was thinking of starting it at. There is a lot of labor in this one. The sleigh, once you get the fretwork done is a straight forward assembly. For the reindeer, each is composed of 9 pieces. I routed the bodies, but had to hand sand the other 40 pieces.
  19. Very well done, thanks for sharing.
  20. After a bit of procrastinating this week I finally finished the reindeer for Sheila Landry's Christmas Sleigh. The tough part will be setting the price and deciding whether to sell as a set or sleigh and reindeer separately.
  21. Check this place out. Good quality and service, Great selection of species, thiicknesses and widths. http://ocoochhardwoods.com/scroll_saw_lumber.php
  22. Color me impressed, Thank you for sharing!
  23. Something my wife and I figured out early on was that having a range of items from inexpensive to higher prices works better. Once we started offering a few things in the $5-10 range to go with our other offerings, things picked up. Folks would pick up a kit or small toy for $5-10, and take a business card, and sometimes would get in touch for something wlse. Best of luck on your show.
  24. Danny, a lot depends on location and possible customer base. If they were mine I'd start the portrait at $30 and the plaques between $30-$40 depending on size and complexity.
  25. I googled 65th birthday signs and found this: didn't really like the bee so I googled bee drawings and found one that looked like it would work. Used word art for the text, then printed out the bits, taped them together and voila!!
