I am getting ready to start another wooden box but this time I wanted a better wooden hinge, so i've been doing some internet research on the subject and came across a website. This guy is awefully smart, he has come up with several home made tools and jigs made from wood. maybe someone has seen it before, but I thought I would share because of all the great ideas this guy has. http://woodgears.ca/

I am still using the factory switch, but I just looked at harbour freight online they have 2 switches, one is maintained (12$) and the other is momentary ($9). the difference is maintained is push one is on push again is off, momentary is push on let off turns the power off. comes with a 7 foot cord and is 120V 15 amp. for that price it's at least worth a try. anything to make things go a little quicker. http://www.harborfreight.com/power-main ... 96618.html http://www.harborfreight.com/momentary- ... 96619.html

do you scroll with your table at an angle like that? I've never seen it done like that before I like your finishing table idea, boards with nails and then you can move them individually into the drying area, takes up less space .

There are a couple mods i need to do to my shop, short of building a new building in the yard strickly for the wood shop, I need better organization, I want to build some cabinets to replace those wire shelves you see, and I want to adjust the height of all the tools to be the same based around the table saw. right now they are almost all different making things a little more difficult to manage. since it's still a garage and my other hobby is offroading with a jeep wrangler I have a bunch of mechanic tools and jeep parts along with other stuff in the shop area which simply take up alot of room. Not to mention my Harley parked next to my drying wood pile. My tools need to stay portable so I can move them out of the way when a vehicle needs to be brought in.

BIG or small show us where you do your best work! here's mine, its a 1.5 car garage attached to the house. inkskape drawing of the area, top left is the scroll saw area, the top is work bench from wall to wall the scroll saw area left of that the sanding and assembly area some tools on the side wall, the open area where a car might go I have a foldable ladder set up in the scafolding mode with wood across it to make a table, I do my finish work here, it's not nearly big enough but I'm betting it's not the smallest either!

what I read and saw in thier demo video they said it was great for scrollers, but It would be nice to actaully hear from someone that has used it (and isn't trying to sell it)

there was alot of plywood in the piles but they also had alot of hardwoods. I just had to dig through all the stuff. Alot of the wood was too samll to use (1/8 thick 3/4 wide and 8 foot long) I mean I could probably use it for something but it would have to be a tiny project that's for sure.

I used 1/4 inch thick wood, cut it to shape then sand it the rest of the way. I have little drum sanders for my drill press, I use 80 grit to shape it then use a orbital hand sander with 120, then finally hand sand with 280 till smooth. I finished all of them with teak oil. -
I took your idea and dropped in by the local cabinet shop....SCORE, lots of hard woods! and he said "we just throw it all away, take all you want!" needless to say i'll be going back there again. I am going to have to come up with a good scroll saw christmas gift for them as a thank you. Thanks for sharing the idea.
