  1. I'm working night shift right now but when I get home I'll post up the volume number. It's Wood magazine
  2. The pattern came out of a wood magazine from 2006. I could copy it and post it I guess, or does that violate forum rules?
  3. Not entirely a scrollsaw project however my scrollsaw was used to make portions of this. I got the idea from an old wood magazine I had One is walnut and oak, the other is a soft maple and purpleheart. Finished with Mohawk clear gloss These are for my craft show in April. Just gotta get one more glass dish from Walmart. What are your thoughts? Price? The glass dish is $7
  4. I ordered it today......I'll post a review once I get to play with it.
  5. I can't wait either!!
  6. it happens
  7. looks good, what's the finish? it looks textured.
  8. I'm finishing up a couple last minute projects for a craft show i'm doing in about 3 weeks then I want to start on the victorian train from finescrollsaw.com http://www.finescrollsaw.com/victorian-locomotive.htm
  9. Great looking pens. I've never used a lathe before. I like the build thread. I was curious how you made them.
  10. That's why I posted. I'm thinking I'd like to add it to my planer.
  11. Very nice stuff! I'm not into dragons but that is really great looking. Looks like it might have taken a while though. Great job thanks for sharing
  12. Anyone out there have one of these? http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?Offe ... 18&max=999 If so what are your thoughts?
  13. IMHO craftsman makes excellent mechanics tools but their wood working tools are junk. I've got a craftsman table saw too and I absolutely hate it. Its just very inaccurate It will be upgraded at some point as well. The scrollsaw is ok for mild scrolling but I've been doing about 6 to 8 hours a day 6 days a week 3 weeks per month every month for a long while now and it just can't keep up. It's time for a commercial grade saw.
  14. I just got that last month for my birthday. I've used it for half rounding thin stock. The main purpose I wanted it was to be able to drill pilot holes in the center of large pieces of wood accurately. Not using a hand drill. My drill press only has a 4 inch throat so larger portraits had to be done by hand. If I stack cut them and the hole was crooked the blade would travel and mess up the bottom layer. So far it works great.
  15. I photocopied a bunch of pages from a book at the library. Don't know what book it was anymore. I wanted to make another box like this and started to dig through my pile of patterns. This one was the largest I could make with the wood I had on hand. There were a large number of patterns in that book. Lots of good stuff
  16. Ill check it out. It did this when I first bought it and they fixed it under warranty. The switch went bad. At first started to change speeds on it's own then eventually wouldn't turn on at all.
  17. Welcome to the site. I started scrolling a couple years ago after seeing some stuff in a wood magazine and now I'm addicted!
  18. It's pretty easy actually. I bought a mini flocking kit from rockler 1- paint the glue on the area you want the suede 2-pump the material liberally onto the glue 3- wait 15 hours for it to set the knock out the excess I turn it over and tap on the bottom, then with a very light air pressure from my compressor I blow out the area. It can take up to several days for it to fully cure for normal use. Spread newspaper down to catch all the excess suede material it can be reused. Since you can catch all the unused material don't be afraid to put it on heavy. I think there is a video on steve goods web site about how to do it.
  19. Thanks for all the compliments! This is one of the items I'm taking to a craft show in a couple weeks. Hopefully I do ok maybe make some money for the new scrollsaw. I almost don't want to sell this one it came out so good I hate to see it go!
  20. Very nice!
  21. it stands about 6 inches tall and about 3.5 inches wide. the drawers are lined with black flocking. Finished with a high gloss laquer (mohawk) the front and back are black walnut (a tree I cut down and then milled into 1/4 inch thick boards), i'm not sure what wood the body is made of. It was some scraps I got from a local cabinet shop. I just thought it looked good. it was very hard wood though.
  22. Well I think my craftsman scrollsaw is dying "sigh" The speed keeps changing on it's own. And sometimes it doesn't turn on at all. I have hundreds of hours scrolling on this thing and it has worked well. Maybe it's a sign that I need to buy the Excalibur that I've wanted for over a year.
  23. Tightbond II But I really need to get a clear glue for some of these projects. The clean up with yellow glue can be brutal. Any suggestions?
  24. Looks great! Lots of detail
  25. I like it! Great job
